Newcastle Won't Survive.

All my mag mates are worried and reckon there is trouble ahead. No idea what is going on over there but I know we will win most weekends and they won't. I'm sure it won't be long until they realise that they are actually aspiring to be the WBA of the North rather than the Juventus steak-bake model.

£50 charity bet that you won't win 24 games this year?

Not from what I saw, no. Certainly a good athlete but doesn't really have much else going for him. Doesn't strike me who would fit into a Benitez team to be honest.
Agree to disagree, he's a good athlete sure, but he's also got a good natural ability at defending. His issue is taking orders, which is apparently why Benitez didn't use him as much as we expected. That coupled with Clark's surprising form.

Lejeune looks a random pick, how have you got on with Spanish league centre backs in past?
Clark is just about bottom 5 standard, but always has a mistake in him
Mbemba is hopeless, 2nd touch a tackle
Lascelles isn't as good as Taylor was, no. I think he's nowhere near PL class

And by the way, what kind of word is "shonky"???

Previous purchases are largely irrelevant and you know it.
I'm honestly not expecting greatness from Clark this coming season.
Mbemba is better than hopeless and his first touch isn't half as bad as you're making out.
It's hard to make a case for Lascelles. He's big and strong, sure. He's guilty of stupid mistakes though. But then you cast your eyes over other defenders in the top flight and you realise he needn't be Nesta to be good enough for that league.

 I dunno, just a word that's nudged it's way into my lexicon.

Coloccini.

It was s bit of a stretch for you's also. fluked it on the last day by a Brighton cock up in the last couple of minutes against a 10 man villa. Don't get carried away man :)

'Fluked it'
  • Most wins
  • Joint most goals scored
  • Joint least goals conceded
  • Most days spent on top of the table.
Okay then, just split it down to promotion then, the consensus of that is the same in so much as it will be a very good achievement if you achieve promotion from your current position.

To be blunt. They are better then the other 2 who came up, and there will be at least one car crash from the 'established' sides a la Villa, Us, etc.

Doesn't mean they will definitely stop up, but in my book they have a better than evens chance of doing so.

NO!

You're supposed to be playing down our chances of staying up to make yourself feel better about your own bleak season ahead.

Did you not get the memo?

Amazing how some claim we have a better squad than theirs?! They just won the championship and are now going to continue to invest in the team. Our side is nowhere near good enough to win the Championship this season and we will have downgraded our squad by the end of the window in terms of the quality going out versus that coming in.

We all want the Mags to fail but they have the ability to invest in the squad and they will heavily. There are no guarantees as other clubs are likewise going to spend but I would give the Mags a good chance of stopping up. And whilst many will abuse him, they also have a highly regarded manager, who's won a European Cup and managed Real Madrid FFS. That gets them way up the pecking order of players looking to come to the PL and sign for one of the lesser teams.

As it stands, they probably won't survive. It's not just a matter of investing, but investing in the right players.

Why are we STILL more concerned about the mags than our own team? Our rivals next year are Burton, Barnsley and Brentford. Let's concentrate on OUR team.

You'll make more signings aye. Will you make the right signings though? ;)
Right, so saying "As it stands" is a bit daft.

Based on your business thus far I'd say Sunderland are in trouble and could finish bottom half. But I have no doubt Grayson isn't going to stop transfer dealings now, so I fully expect you to sign some more players and finish at least 5th-11th.

I also fully expect Benitez to continue to strengthen our squad and get rid of deadwood and us to finish 13th-17th.

Looking at the business some of the lesser teams are doing and the strength of the teams already established in the league, coupled with the fact Benitez is struggling with signings... They don't have a chance of staying up!

If you look at that squad there are only a few players who are actually premier league quality. Despite the difference in league I'd actually rather have our squad than theirs.

We have a lot more promising youngsters than them, as our academy is really starting to come good by the looks of things.

But even the bigger name signings we have a lot more money's worth than they have in their side; Lens, Kone, Khazri etc who we still have to sell off.

Even with them gone I'd still rather have this squad SG is building than what the mags currently have under Ashley and the waiter.
I'll take that bet. Name the deal or the odds. All my winnings to charity of course.
