Benitez isnt a good manager as hes useless unless hes got huge funds.
The villa argument is a poor one they gave funds to a poor manager and one who would never have got them promoted. If Bruce was their manager that preseason youd have not gone up as champions or even at all.
On paper youve had more investment than 5 premier league sides in the last 24 months so he really should already have a side to keep you up. This cry for money is because hes like a spoilt bairn.
I dont see how profit on Sissko and Wijinaldum is a plus for Rafa either when it was Pardew and McClaren who made those signings. Should we praise Grayson for getting 30m for Pickford?
Did he have huge funds at Extremadura? Tenerife? What were the huge sums he spent at Valencia? Is he singularly unique in being a manager that spends what is available to him?
The Villa argument is not a poor one and is in response to a poor argument.
Sunderland fan says "Of course you won,
anyone would have won if they'd spent as much as you"
I say "Villa spent more and failed to even make the Play Offs"
They say "Who cares about Villa, we're talking about Newcastle".
That's silly and a further example of the shifting goal posts.
The money Benitez has spent was needed to build an entirely new squad. He brought in an entire 11 and sold/loaned/released a similar number. £55m in the Championship is a large figure, £5m per player for a title winning side is not a large figure. That side was built for one purpose, immediate promotion, which was achieved. Players who were signed as back-up/cover for the Championship won't feature in the Premier League and will obviously be moved on. So to say the Championship side should keep us up is almost courageously stupid...
I keep coming back to the same point. Benitez has a trophied history, he turned got a side promoted at the first time of asking and has made improvements off the pitch at the club as well. He demonstrably a good manager. If he was at literally any other football club, you wouldn't be half as critical, but your (pretty childish) bias forces you to concoct reasons to criticise him above that which is fair.
Benitez has bought squads not built them you plum.
Only the deluded mags would mags would mention Benitez and Ferguson on a par
In this age, how does a manager build squad if he doesn't sign the players for them? Promoting from the youth teams? Well he's not really had an opportunity to do that yet, has he?
Also, I wasn't comparing them, please read more carefully, as it makes you look stupid when you don't.
