Benitez Future In Doubt Over Failure to Secure Key Signings

The real problem here is perception.

Having ditched managers regularly the mackems think that extricating yourself from relegation is always achievable. The reality is it isn't.

Technically they are correct, we went down under Benitez. People are probably right when they claim that a slightly earlier appointment might have avoided relegation. It doesn't really matter, it happened, and he got on with it.

I'm guessing that wages had a lot to do with it but he made short work of getting shot of the players who let the fans down. He used the money he raised to have an almost new squad and got them up at the first attempt. There were one or two rank displays, but there were also some decent ones. Prior to the Brighton(a), Huddersfield(a), Reading(a) I recall seeing plenty on here lipping their lips as the idea of promotion going tits up. Three pressure games, three excellent results.

The result on the final day probably reinforced my perception of him. He's not only a decent manager, he's also a lucky one.

He's the best we've had since Robson and it would be a disaster if he walked away. With the right financial support and given time he could build a side capable of being on the fringe of a European spot rather than a one constantly flirting with relegation.

Anyone from either club who says they wouldn't want him as manager are only kidding themselves.

Who ye trying to convince ye deluded Fookwit.........Robson? Who ye hounded out? Mergs rewrite history on a weekly basis

Fringe of a European spot

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Let me guess, another non attending gobshite?

This ones red and white, mate. Honest!
Well, he is if you saw the shite he was previously posting.

Their inferiority complex is huge. Still obsessed with us and here, even though we have just been relegated.
I read in the comments on an article about us (Lee Clarke/Hudds) on the Chronicle site, that one of them wants us to beat Hudds, and NUFC to draw us next round, so they can smash us 10-0.

How have the other times with their 'superior' team and manager worked out?
Clueless, to a man.

So you are suggesting that even if he is given time and support he can't turn Newcastle into a better than mid table side. Let's come back to this in a couple of seasons.

This @Old Sport chomper actually pretended he was a Sunderland fan?

Yeah we should have took that game as it should have been 3 or 4 by the time they scored. But it wasn't and that was the result. If it was the other way round we would have heard how they had more throw ins and corners for weeks like we did the derby before.
Walking past their boozers and they were celebrating like they won the league. Especially on Scotswood rd. Putting up 1-1 signs with their fingers and jumping all over like it was a victory! Some of them were even giving it the big 5-1!! They forgot about the 6 games previous.
