New Shirt

Coming back from Croft Racing Circuit last yesterday afternoon I had a chance to get enough signal strength on my phone to get up the new shirt. I thought it would be on the club website but it says to go on the Facebook page. So I did. I must say my first feeling was revulsion. Not revulsion. Too strong a word. But I certainly my first feeling was not pleased I suppose you could say. I was certainly underwhelmed. My first feeling was what a lot of people were thinking. The Butcher's apron, shopping bag, "Bully" from TV show Bullseye. Mainly due to the overwhelming of the stripes. We have to go back to 1887-1889 to see the last shirt which had that many red and white stripes. In fact I have counted the red and white stripes on the new shirt and it comes to about 15 which is about the same as 1888-1889 shirt. Pin stripes don't work for me on football shirts because I think it could be something to do with our eyes and/or brain and it's perceptions. The way they sort things out. The way it orders everything. That many red and white stripes that look like it is all coming at you in one mass hurts the eyes. Four or five red and white stripes can be easily distinguished I think.

That said I do like it myself not only because it harks back to the late 1880's but it does feel like it is a symbolic 'moving on' from the horror show of last year and the last ten. It is the club remodeling itself. And I hope people get used to it. I think in the next few weeks most will not even think about it. Give it a first thought never mind second. The new graphics for the weather forecasts on TV from the Met Office last year was criticized. Now nobody thinks about it I bet. Anyway I think it is better than having static clouds, sun etc. It shows the movement of the weather better. It shows the specific places affected by sun or rain or fog or whatever. Give the new shirt a chance and I am sure it will grow on you and people may start to see good things.

Sorry its shite...it may have been just about ok if they had ot rid of the black piping and the stipes went all the way round the back ...........the back has been designed by a moron............its fekking disgrace! at the end of the day "its only a strip",many will say but of course they are partly right but performance in professional sport is partly determined by psychological factors and if your running around in a strip that crosses Bully with a Walter Wilson carrier bag and you feel a right pillock your peformance may be diminished a tad and we need any fekking advantage we can get no matter how small .................For me its the lack of oversight by the club..the thinking we will swallow owt!

It's quite trippy to look at man, cosmic vibes!!
Have you seen the look on his face!Man hes thinking what a pillock i look! Its embarrassing!

Do adults wear replica tops like?
Some do fella!.....Sorry to blow your mind!Ive heard if you have a special pass and the right handshake and your not a pretentious pillock wth ideas above your station you can get a top with a chest size greater than 32"..I know its shocking but true!Do want to lie down for a couple of hours following that revelation?..........Sorry for TTP but have you ever been to a football match? (appologies if your registered blind)

I think shirts with those squares on the back look shit unless you add a name or number, would prefer full stripes on the back but if not then a plain back is better IMO.
To be honest the shirt is the last of my priorities, all I said was the plain back was not very exciting the team can come out nude with stripes painted on them as long as we get our act together, it would be a bit of laugh too come to think of it. Better than the apathy I felt last season:lol::lol:

PS I have seen a couple of lads with them on today so the young'uns must like it

It's a f***ing joke
We have hit rock bottom- a chairman that can't wait to fuck off , no manager , a shit squad & to top it all off a horrendous strip which looks nowt like a Sunderland FC top
What a shambles

Did not realize they were on sale. might be copies

I wanted to avoid a kneejerk reaction (mainly because I was worried about ligament damage) - so have given it time to sink in.

Sorry - it is utter crap - I won't buy it even if it goes on clearance.

I never thought I'd see us in a more awfully designed shirt than the Le Coq Sportif pinstripe thing in the 80's,but this is even worse. Hideous. I remember the bananas in pyjamas piss take of the mags shirt they had when they went down, this certainly gives them plenty of opportunity for payback.
