Our squad compares unfavourably with Derby, Leeds & Villa

Going by our current squad, those expected to leave, our finances, our reputation, and our recruitment habits I am expecting us to finish around 18th next year and a potential relegation battle.

If there is a miracle and the board completely U-turn and have a personality transplant and we also hire a new decent preferably foreign manager then of course anything is possible. But all evidence points one way for me right now.

and they haven't made the play-offs.

This is what Telegraph journo John Wardle says about our perspectives for next year - and even suggests another relegation fight

However some of our resident experts talk of us walking the league and enjoying winning again.

I am not so positive. We have to start by sorting out the managerial situation - and if we haven't got it right over the last 10 years - why should we strike gold this time?
Well given the squad will be both unpredictable and unrecognisable he's clearly talking shit. But probability right.

So the article claims our squad is unfavorable, yet it's an interview with Eddie Howe who says

“I would bank on them coming straight back up with David in charge. They’re going through a tough time, but there is enough quality"

What a f***ing shit article. Howe backs us to come back up, yet the reporter spins it to make us look shit.

On the other side of the coin, Huddersfield and Reading have grossly overachieved. This summer is massive, we need to make the inevitable overhaul a good one.

The overhaul must start with the sacking of Moyes

Eddie Howe's credibility straight down the pan !!!

Laughable

The quality of the championship is poor relative to the premier league. No one would dispute that, if you were to name every player accomplished in the championship but poor in the premier league you would rack up a portfolio. My fundamental worry though is this summer, we need not just quality players for that level, but fit ones. Take Oviedo, would probably be the best LB in the league but will see him feature in more than 15 games ? Then there is cattermole, Rodwell, Gibson etc. The losing mentality is a worry too, we need a good positive overhaul consisting of a core of players under the age of 26 say as well as 2 of 3 experienced pro's.
I don't think Oviedo will be a problem - his injury was a broken leg, he just could not get back in the side ahead of Leighton Baines. Would worry more about Cattermole - is his injury properly healed now with the op? Rodwell too seems criminally injury prone, which is a shame as he should actually shine down there.

The thing that gets me is people are talking about the so called quality of the other teams down there and how we will struggle as our squad is shit.

Huddersfield have Dean Whitehead playing every week and are going to finish in the play offs.

It's there anyone with half a brain who thinks Whitehead is better than Cattermole or ndong??

Next season we will want to stick the Dong in his face

Whitehead has spent most of the season on the bench, if that, he's only come into contention in last few games when Wagner gave up on automatic promotion and started resting players for play offs, for instance they made 10 changes on Saturday

For me there's the 3 relegated side for starters. 3 of the 4 play off teams, then I can see the like of Leeds, Villa, Derby, Norwich & Cardiff being in the mix next year.
On top of that there is usually a surprise package or 2...

It's not going to be easy & we must get our recruitment spot on!

Ok then Bridcutt or Steve sidwell, either way neither are as good and highlights the lack of quality in that league.

Villa have the best squad bar Newcastle but have underachieved big time. We would have the best squad down there if we don't lose anyone. Norwich have a good squad. The rest are pretty average.

The quality in that league is horrendous. We've been mismanaged but a lot of the team we'll be left with next season are good players for that league. People on here going way over the top, you'd think we had non league players the way some on here go on.
a good player whose head has dropped will be beaten by a mediocre player playing out of his skin much if the time.
