Our squad compares unfavourably with Derby, Leeds & Villa

Striker
and they haven't made the play-offs.

This is what Telegraph journo John Wardle says about our perspectives for next year - and even suggests another relegation fight

However some of our resident experts talk of us walking the league and enjoying winning again.

I am not so positive. We have to start by sorting out the managerial situation - and if we haven't got it right over the last 10 years - why should we strike gold this time?

have you link ?.. and i agree with you i think its going to be more difficult than some realise

While the current squad might have very little to do with the 2017/18 season squad, it is worth pointing out Hull knocked a better championship team out of the cup than the ones you mentioned.

Comments are worthless at this time
Nest seasons team will not be the same as this

We are the unknown factor - but the the strength of the other teams is enough to give us food for thought.

Most importantly we have to get a good manager & we aren't very good at that.

Jah wobble!!!!

A great name BTW although I'm biased

The quality of the championship is poor relative to the premier league. No one would dispute that, if you were to name every player accomplished in the championship but poor in the premier league you would rack up a portfolio. My fundamental worry though is this summer, we need not just quality players for that level, but fit ones. Take Oviedo, would probably be the best LB in the league but will see him feature in more than 15 games ? Then there is cattermole, Rodwell, Gibson etc. The losing mentality is a worry too, we need a good positive overhaul consisting of a core of players under the age of 26 say as well as 2 of 3 experienced pro's.

The reserve side of our 19 pointers were good enough to come 3rd. The 15 pointers were good enough to win the league.

Fletcher and Graham are among the leading strikers in the division, and a shite Mags side sold their best two players and still won promotion with ease. Lascelles and Darlow are among the top players in the division. It doesn't need to be as difficult as people are making out

It's hard to say how our squad will fair in that league right now because we're going to have a totally different squad come September. This summers recruitment is abolsutely vital.

However, one thing for certain is that the championship is a much tougher league now than it was in 2006/07. I think people are in for a big surprise if they think we will walk that league.

What does that matter, though?

Sheffield Wednesday aside, all the teams in the play off mix (Reading, Huddersfield, Fulham, Leeds) have hardly spent a fortune.

Derby & Villa have backed their managers, but largely those managers have been useless. Contrast to the examples above.........

Your point is totally irrelevant as I could also say Lincoln City knocked out the team sat at the top of the championship and also a premier league team

Good point, that depends if the above aren't sold of course.
