at least we will win games in the championship

No, I won't.

Winning games in the Premier League is a totally different buzz because our natural level should (it isn't be it should be) midtable so it feels like a genuine achievement when we win games in that league.

We will feel a bit like Man Utd fans in the Championship - winning will just be a relief rather than ecstasy. It will never have the same feeling of euphoria because a club of our size shouldn't be there.

Taking it on a bit further, IF by some miracle we get promoted (fwiw I think we will be 6th at the very best), I doubt there will be wild celebrations.
Most of us will be thinking "here we go again, 10 months of struggle".
If we aren't going to be competitive in the PL, what is the point of going up ?
I don't go to games wanting to see world renowned stars like Ibrahimovic, Hazard, Aguerro , Coutinho, Sanchez or Lukaku, I go to see OUR lads trying to win.
If we do go up, more than likely, the squad will be way too weak to survive, so it's then back to paying big wages and fees on lads who can possibly help us be competitive. Will that happen ? Hmmmmmmm......

For a club that has spent 75% of its time in the top league it certainly is!

Not in our lifetimes though !!!
I am very proud of the fact that we were not out of the top tier between entering the FL in the 1890s and 57/58, BUT, I was born in 61 and have seen more seasons outside the top tier than in it.

Look at mid-table now. WBA, Southampton, Burnley, Bournemouth ... there is no reason why we cannot get this right. We are not automatically doomed to struggle. Let's get the right man in, younger, positive, progressive ... and get back on track.
