but then we have to pay for their upkeep, as opposed to the cost of a single bullet, few metres of rope etc. FWIW i'm against it, but can see the argument for.
half a loaf of bread and a jug a water a day only costs pence man. Plenty of abandoned pits we can sling them in as well. With only one shaft open needs minimum guarding, let them live like Hobbits .

That's extremely harsh on Hobbits. I think you mean Morlocks.

No.

I would rather that the convicted person be banged up for life, and that they have every day to ponder over what they have done.
Same here. I think the thought of decades without freedom is far worse than essentially never waking up from an anaesthetic.
I thought the same but you should see the programmes showing convicts in the states and the way they try everything to avoid death row even though they'll never ever see the outside of a prison. To them death seems worse, so for that reason I'd advocate it.

Yes, only for cases of premeditated murder where absolute proof has been obtained (ie a mixture of proof where possible including : DNA, fingerprints, correct timelines, witnesses, CCTV, phone evidence / triangulation, fibre testing / proof someone had been somewhere at a specific time due to transference etc....................every avenue exhausted so there is ABSOLUTELY NO CHANCE OF A MISCARRIAGE OF JUSTICE / INNOCENT PEOPLE BEING PUT TO DEATH). So say for example Ian Brady, he should get the death penalty due to there being witnesses to his crimes and audio / photographic evidence of him raping and murdering Lesley Ann Downey etc - DNA wasn't even required etc).

Yes, people who kill in cold blood should be killed. Fuck off locking them up for life and making the tax payer foot the bill. The most evil killers will never be allowed to walk the streets again anyway.

Uk already sort of has one i.e the police will shoot you if your a wrangun. I think it costs more to death penalty people than it does to lock them up for life.

Will have to wait till after Brexit but then no-one could stop you I guess.

Yes. And can I apply for executioners job?

:(

I bought a book yonks ago called Tough Times & Grisly Crimes - A History of Crime in Northumberland and County Durham. It has all sorts of horrible stories from the area from times gone by and one thing I remember most vividly from reading it is how public 'public executions' were a hundred and some years ago. It attracted hundreds and sometimes thousands of spectators. I wouldn't want to watch that let alone have the job of actually doing it.
