the Arkansas thread and Nuttall suggestion he would have a referendum on the death penalty got me thinking

Should the UK have the death penalty, yes or no?

For extreme cases with absolutely no chance of mistaken identity etc I think so yes. Seems to be rare these days but some people don't deserve to live even behind bars imo.

No. I'm fine with life in prison without possibility of parole but giving the death penalty is an easy way out for the offender.

No, that penalty (for burning Royal Navy vessels) was abolished in the late 90s

Same as Pedro said really, to me it's the easy way out and not a punishment. A more severe punishment would be rotting in prison for life.

Same here. I think the thought of decades without freedom is far worse than essentially never waking up from an anaesthetic.

Yes, but only because our jails are so cushy. I'd rather they had basic meals and no playstations etc.

Also bugs me when you see people who killed getting out after 15 years when they might have 40-50 years of freedom ahead of them. The victim never got that chance.
