Au contraire Lurker, I love a good blast down the blacktop myself, it's just that there are more and more arrogant, dangerous, fuckwitted drivers out there these days, and the lying bassas are always looking to off-load the blame for damage.
It's the speed cameras you need to look out for BTW, not me.
Im sure it can be arranged.Dash cams point outward though, is it on a swivel?
I got a next base. Bit expensive but superb.
Mine goes to blank screen when driving but shows the GPS speed.
This is handy when going through road works and with the new speeding fines!!
You can have the sound on or off and will activate when bumped.
Superb thing. Wouldn't drive a car without one now.
Which one though?
A 100 quid, it would be cheaper to take the blame for the accident.I've got this....

You can get them with speed trap camera alerts. Maybe worth considering?

Maybe they should educate their staff instead to not be shonky and then they wouldnt have to disconnect it.I got a 'ddpai m6 plus' a few weeks ago, it's my first dashcam and I'm pretty pleased with it. I hardwired it so records ignition only so I haven't used the parking mode (captures a shot per minute and records video if the car is bumped or there's a loud noise). If you want to use parking mode and don't want to risk a flat battery, you can buy a battery discharge prevention device, they monitor the car battery voltage and if it gets too low, they shut off the power to the dashcam or a portable charging device could be used. Video quality is excellent at 1440p and decent at 1080p.
I had the car in the garage for a MOT and service, forgot to remove the dashcam. When I went to pick the car up, the mechanic told me it was garage policy to disconnect any dashcams, they'd had people in the past viewing the footage and complaining about workmanship and swearing
You point them out of the window
Looking at that daft bint in the other thread about merging, I'm finally going to get off my butt and get a dash cam. What do I look for? Loop recording? HD? 170? 16 gig card? Do motion sensors switch the camera on when you've been dinged by someone trying to park? How good is 'night vision'?
There seems to a wide price range from £20 to £140. Is this down to electronics/lenses/ease of use?
Please help an old technophobe.
You can either hard wire them in which means they turn on via car battery when the ignition is swtiched on or it can be through external battery pack which powers 24 hours and is charged while driving such as http://www.car-dvr.co.uk/cellink_b/powerbank/cellink_b.htmlHow do you power them? Last thing I want is a cable trailing from my windscreen to my 12V socket.
Do they see sideways as well as forwards? Otherwise how do you find who banged the side of your car when parked?
Sounds like a fuck on tbh.You can either hard wire them in which means they turn on via car battery when the ignition is swtiched on or it can be through external battery pack which powers 24 hours and is charged while driving such as http://www.car-dvr.co.uk/cellink_b/powerbank/cellink_b.html
I didnt hardwire it i just got a massive wire to plug into 12v socket and nipped it behind the trim edge to tidy it up. More than adeqaute and not messySounds like a fuck on tbh.
Shame, as I quite fancy one. But no way am I arsing on routing wires around the back of my dash
there's usually plenty space behind the roof interior trim, tuck the cable behind that, then tuck it in the trim down the 'a' pillar into the fuse box.Sounds like a fuck on tbh.
