I assume what he meant to articulate was that 6 years would have been a reasonable sentence for committing rape.

No ones a winner especially the judicial system.When you see what sentences have been given for far worse crimes it really does make the law look like an arse.

Herein lies the problem. Once shown to be an offender with a liking for kiddies then they should never be released in case they offend again.
