Craft Beer

The whole point of alcopops is that they're sweet and taste like fruit juice. A craft saison, sour or Berliner Weisse doesn't really fit that description. But ok m8.

:D

It does like, the amount of shit chocolate and strawberry and fuck knows what else beers kicking around

It's embarrassing man, Weiss beer for fucks sake :D

Have a pint of double maxim

Not sure if you are on your usual trolling but I'll bite anyway.

Weiss Beer is German/Belgian wheat beer, it isn't some new craft beer creation.

Fwiw I agree with you on a lot of the ridiculous craft nonsense.

Aye but there's crafty versions of it flavoured with f***ing ginger and juniper and fuck knows what else

It's an abomination Marra

Imagine thinking that a 9% Imperial Stout is like an alcopop

Berliner weiss is a specific style which is deliberately sour.

Just don't drink it. It has made everyone up their game and that is a good thing.

It's an acquired taste, aye. Which is why any assertion that craft beers are like deliberately easy to drink sugary pop mixed with vodka is ludicrous.

I don't, but I don't like the idea of none craft ale being a 'lesser' drink

My car is a lesser car to cars that are better made with better components and more care. I'm aware of this and wouldn't get pissy if that was pointed out.

I've had one beer from them, a pretty standard pale ale. Wasn't overly impressed.

Agreed. Going to give this one a try and give them the benefit of the doubt.

Howling Hops have a New England DIPA out too. 8.6%. Supposed to be superb, hoping to get down to Hackney Wick over the weekend to give it a try.

Yes but if you could afford a nice car, you'd have one, a nice car is better than a shite one

A normal beer can be better than a craft beer, just because it is made in lower volumes doesn't mean it's better

Here speaks a man who no fuck all about craft beer.

I've won a Brewery Tour of Dunscar Bridge in Bolton. Unfortunately it's on the Wednesday 19th April.
I'm now torn between going but not drinking too much as it's a work night, or taking the Thursday off and thoroughly enjoying myself.
The invite says "until the pumps run dry". Now I'm not sure how many people are on this tour, but I accept that challenge.

Exactly the opposite I usually find.

Mass produced beers are mass produced because they're designed to be sold to a lot of people. They're typically uninteresting and, relatively, flavourless. The CEO of Fosters admitted as much a few years back describing the brand as 'lowest common denominator'. If your product is not overly malty, not overly hoppy and generally much of a muchness, it offends less people and appeals to everyone who doesn't much care about what they're chucking down their neck.

Craft beers tend to be very unapologetically 'of a style' and aren't made to appeal to everyone, so if you enjoy a style of beer you have a better experience.

In all craft beers? Or just some of the more unusual ones? There's a wealth of easy drinking session pales out there.

I live literally over the road from northern monk.
Really mate? I work dead opposite.

Highly recommend this place - especially the double heathen. 10% but tastes like 5%.

Pretty strong rumours that it's moving.

Expanding into brewery space in Hunslet and the refectory have been cancelling weddings in the summer. Reckon they are going to sack off the hospitality and move the brewery.
But Hunslet is well out the centre? Why would anyone go?

Not all but using say Northern Monk as an example, whenever you go to their tap room, you struggle to find more than 1 beer on draft out of 20 less than 5/6%% abv. Generally all the beers are quite hoppy which I don't mind if I am having one or two but for a session it get's a bit much. Which supports my view a lot of craft is

Session pales are my favorite and you do usually get at least one in most places so I am usually sorted.

You work in Marshall Mills? I live in the Round Foundry flats.
