The main criteria for me is soft springy long lasting soles with good support, as I have some foot problems.

Any recommendations?

Would running shoes be best ?

Trekking type shoes probably a bit too heavy.

Had a pair of brilliant Pumas many years ago, since when nothing else has come close.

I've looked for a similar pair of Pumas, but they just don't seem the same quality as before.

Looking thru quite a few reviews, the ones that seem highly rated and best for my purpose are Asics Gel Venture 5.

to my horror as a kid in the late 60's me dad sawed the moulded studs off me Timpson footy boots and i had to wear them to school for a term as a sort of fore runner to trainers
