We have fairly good experience ourselves of a managerial change resulting in the appointment of an idiot.
 

He won't be going anywhere-w ecan't afford to sack him and the owner has come out and said that Moyes is the guy he's always wanted for the job. We're stuck with him.

a lot of bullshit on here. at the time of signing, rodwell was a young hot prospect that had suffered from injuries but still had plenty of time to flourish. ki was good on his day, but went missing a lot and has a heart the size of a pea. its all good and well everyone acting on hindsight, and as usual no-one has the balls to accept they were wrong but the majority on here were buzzing when we signed rodwell. he was a real statement of intent. same as johnson. he was a big name touted to be a real good player.

It depends how you look at it. The year we finished 13th was as much down to the ineptitude of the sides who went down, iirc 31 points was enough for safety. His 2nd season we were 6th around Christmas. Went on an absolutely appalling run as we had done the previous season and something that is a feature of his career, we finished 7 or 8 points clear of safety. If 'we'd lost or drawn against West Ham we'd have finished about 16th. We then started his 3rd season as he'd left off the 2nd, absolutely shite.

Pretty much, the 3 sides that went down did so without a fight which distorted the league table slightly. Even the side that finished 17th were about 10 points clear.

Yes but 44 points and 13th place doesn't fall in to that category for me
 
how can anyone deny that steve bruce has been our best manager since 2007? the only one that comes close is Keane who kept us up, and tbf had a load of cash to do so, or Poyet for getting us to the cup final. Brucie had us chilling in mid table.

44pts would have got you 13th (on average) in the past 10 seasons (13 12 13 13 15 15 11 12 13 14)
07 - 13th
08 - 12th
09 - 13th
10 - 13th
11 - 15th
12 - 15th
13 - 11th
14 - 12th
15 - 13th
16 - 14th

That's comfortable (in terms of safety) and I'd consider 13th as midtable, perhaps the bottom end of midtable, but midtable nonetheless. It's not top half, it's not relegation fodder.

You've averaged 40.5pts over the last 10 years in the top flight which would get you around 16th (15.8) on average. The seasons that Bruce was part of (09/10 & 10/11), are outliers on the whole and by most measures are two of your best performing seasons since you came back up.

Could be bias but I see a yoyo club as one that comes up and goes straight back down, rather than one that goes down comes straight back up, hangs around for a few seasons, then goes down and comes straight back up (if we do come straight back up).

Hull have managed 4 years in England's top tier throughout their entire history, Burnley have only enjoyed 2 seasons in the top flight over nearly 40 years, and since they were relegated in 1995 Norwich only managed 5 seasons in the top flight, whereas we only dropped from the top flight once since our promotion to it, we then survived for 6yrs before succumbing once more.

Not much action in that yoyo.
