I've met some truly mad Sunderland supporters .....

Co-incidentally had a couple of minutes with Davy Flanagan in the South Stand today. Walking poorly. Nice lad.

You really can't knock the lad's support can you ....... almost always see him when I'm there.

Really don't know why he bothers, really don't.

No idea mate, he seems bitter about absolutely everything despite the amount of smileys he always sticks on.

If he was an old fella with no responsibilities, like me, I could understand but we has a wife and kids at home.

Yet he spends his life on here, even Christmas and almost every Sunday running Sunderland and the supporters down ....... tragic.

No bitterness here rivs just a bit of light hearted fun. I appreciate that some take this place a bit too seriously (20k posts in a year would indicate you're one of them) but ultimately all of us who support Sunderland just want the same thing and that's a modicum of success for the club. I'll be at the Stoke game next week with my eldest (will be his 3rd game) hoping for 3 points the same as all the other fans. I'm sure you'll be watching your stream hoping for the same thing.
No idea why you keep obsessing over my family life mind. Becoming quite the regular occurrence.

Aye he had quite a bad stutter although nobody ever said anything about it.

Just reminiscing about him made me realise Reiver is spot on with his comments about being isolated as a SAFC fan for being from a different part of the country. I remember when we went down to Cardiff the time when we got humped 4-0. We had all travelled down overnight on buses to Bristol and got the train from there. Cardiff were in a right huff that 200 of us had been there all day so the atmosphere was far from convivial on the way out of the ground. I remember a Welsh policeman came over and was keen to force us onto our buses which they had helpfully brought to the ground.

So it was you 200 lads: turn left. Tommy on his own off to the station to get the train back to London: turn right.

Needless to say he jumped on our bus for 10 minutes to effect his escape!
2004? Loads left at half time and Cardiff didn't want to know apparently. Same in Bristol after the match with bristol city wasn't it?

Perhaps you can fill me in ......

...... with a few details ;)

We went to Ayresome Park for what I believe was a league game on a Saturday in the late 1970's or early 80's.

We had the RH corner opposite the Holgate End and part of the paddocks. It was a day when Boro started to fight back after Sunderland had laughed at them for years.

Anyway, this is my question to you and anyone else who may have been there. If you looked from the Holgate End towards the 'away end' there was a large section of home terracing to the left.

Around 100 supporters appeared before kick off, in the top corner, and were making a fair bit of noise ..... we assumed they were Boro.

But the rest of the terracing turned and charged them which lead to a fair bit of actual fighting. This continued for the whole of the game with Boro charging them but being beaten off.

The polis had enough to deal with, all round the ground, so ignored it. We don't know what happened, at the end of the game, because trouble started in our paddocks which spilled out onto the street.

I always wondered who those lads were and what happened after the game ...... they were outnumbered 10 to 1 but seemed totally unconcerned.

I can't help you with this one although I ve been in quite a few scrapes at Boro. The seats behind the goal, Clive Rd end used to be mixed fans, feckin hell on.

It was to the left of that centre block as you looked at the end.

I remember sitting in that block for a night game shortly after the Cleveland abuse scandal ..... very tense night.

I think it was a cup game and we lost

*Chuckles.

Dear me ..... when you, Jardine & Haway form a circle to lick each others arses I know I'm getting to you

But of course you're not obsessed at all.

Why not post a thread of your own instead of trying to derail a thread that dozens of decent people are enjoying?

Was that filth aimed as some kind of homophobic rant at me?

You're obsessed man, you don't have to be a homosexual to lick Jardine's arse ... Haway spends every day doing it.

Get some dignity and stop trying to derail a thread that dozens of good lads are enjoying.

Oh, so you've edited it now ...... obsessed and a coward, what a crew you 3 are

Can't help you about who was involved Riv, it was probably this match

Incidentally this is the worst in stadium away violence involving SAFC fans that Ive ever witnessed
