You need your f***ing head testing if you think we should sell for 20 million like, sorry.

Where does Stones stand in the all time expensive defenders? Probably near the top.

Outfield players are completely different.

2nd most expensive GK of all time. Haway man, think that tells it's own story.

£20m is the amount I would want before selling and would be happy with that amount really. He's played a handful of PL games and keepers are generally a lot easier to replace.

I wonder if the "snap their hands off" brigade are the same "snap their hands off" brigade who were happy to sell Henderson.

It comes down to how much confidence we have in the talent of the player(s).

I have absolutely no doubt that Pickford will continue to improve and is a far better keeper than we could hope to attract to replace him. The same was true of Henderson and just look at how we reinvested the money.

An £18m bid for Kone is far more attractive to me than a £20m bid for Pickford.

Get fooked Van Djyk for £50m......Stones / Kone mk II

Plus the orks raked in £55m for two pub league players

I would always sell the foreign mercenary before one of our own.

It has always been the case, but it's a bit strange. A great goalkeeper wins points and matches and can be as much of a difference as a goal scorer.

Buffon is the only goalkeeper in history to go for upwards of £30m, but how many other keepers have actually moved clubs when in their prime and at the peak of their value? It's a difficult one to judge because the top goalkeepers tend to stay at their clubs for a long time.

I think £20m should be the starting point for Pickford, maybe upto £30m with add ons. We tend to be too soft negotiating fees, we should try a bit hardball.

Best young keeper? He isn't even close to Thibaut Courtois or De Gea, lets not go mad.

Whilst I dont watch his every game, its very possible Courtois is overrated, many Chelsea fans arent too keen on him I gather.

De Gea is different class I agree, but hes got 4 years on Jordan.

Pickford is only 22, and without a doubt one of the best keepers in the premier, and he will only get better.
£20m sounds a lot for a keeper, but he could have another 12 - 15 years at the top level. To a club like City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool etc. £20m is fuck all. Divide the fee by 10 - 15 years, and its not a lot really...£2m per year max....that's pretty good value these days. That could be their keeper sorted for the next 10 - 15 seasons!!
When offers come in and clubs ask what he is worth to you, SAFC should be asking "what is he worth to you"?
