Does it matter what man city or other clubs do? Doesn't matter about the income either. Moyes wants it to change so it looks like it will

You are proportioning a percentage of the blame to concerts to sunderland poor home. What i am saying is that other clubs manage it. Sunderland just need to buy better players rather than look to Beyonce or an Oasis concert in 2008 to blame for the 1st teams failings

Is this confirmed or is it just because Hutchinson is leaving and people are putting 2 and 2 together and coming up with 5?
It's being rumoured and has been for a while now. It certainly doesn't appear that there are going to be any next year. Rumours that Bieber was lined up for next year and has been pulled. Only having Beyoncé the summer gone when there were quite a few stadium artists touring.

Why should Sunderland AFC be bothered about the local economy? I would rather they took decisions which are for the best interests of the football team.

I'm not, Moyes is and he's the manager.

I couldn't care less if concerts are on or off, the football should be the priority though and if moyes & bain think they should go then do it

Because they're part of the local economy and those people are some of their biggest customers?

I still don't follow the logic at all. Why should it be down to a sporting club to take responsibility for trying to promote the local economy? If there are spin off benefits from the football club doing well, great. But how many other private businesses would be expected to take into account the impact of their decisions on the local economy. The core business is football. That is what the football club needs to get right. That's what the club has seemed to lose sight of in recent years, pissing around with Nelson Mandela museums and concerts while the debt spirals and performances on the pitch stagnate.

And that's before you get into considerations like how much a Beyoncé concert actually benefits the local economy, or how many of the club's fans would consider themselves part of the Sunderland economy, etc.

If Moyes is attributing some of the blame at Beyonce door due to sunderland been crap then it is a concern.

Its about recognising their importance to the local community and the region as a whole.

Wouldn't they best recognise their importance to the local community by doing everything they can to build a better football team that, first, stays in the Premier League, and secondly, progresses?

Frankly, if we get an extra 3 or 4 points at the start of every season, because we don't have our annual terrible start, I couldn't give a fuck if the Karbon Grill loses a few customers a couple of nights a year.

It shows the region in a good light, it shows the rest of the country that us in the north east can hold big events and hold them successfully. I see it as a showcase for the region

He posted trivially about it. Quite a few, including myself have known a while. But I can't post info anymore. I don't much on here but often have on FB.

I'd give credit were it due but it's not to be honest.

I could of found out as Gary's uncle comes to the match with me now and again !

Come on, judging by your name you are from a place renowned for sensible people living there. Are you seriously saying the concerts, Beyonce in this summers case is partly to blame why we have been rubbish at home this seas?

So what? If the benefit of holding concerts is that it is good for the region, then let Visit North East England (whose job it is to promote the region) arrange them, and let Sunderland AFC (whose business it is to run a football team) get on with building a better football team.

Are you supporting a football club or beyonce? Moyes and bain are making footballing decisions and its about time imo

I am a season ticket holder at the concert venue.... I just don't see how a crap football team and summer concerts are linked and how ditching concerts for home friendly at a half full or empty Stadium of Light depending on your philosophical out look will improve our fortunes? Because if the club thought the would make money or it would benefit them going out to China or Nepal to do friendlies, they would.

Visit North East got knocked on the head by government cuts iirc.

I'm saying that our starts to the season, every season, for years, is a massive problem for us. Managers come and go, players come and go, pre-season schedules change, yet we always start off badly. If experienced football people are saying that we would stand a better chance of a better start by playing pre-season friendlies at home, and dropping the concerts, that's fine by me.
