I think atmospheres in England are generally poor. It's just not something we do well and something that all seater stadia have contributed to. I go home and away and I honestly can't remember the last time I came away from an away ground and thought "wow, that was loud".
Having said that, when ours is good, it's a match for anyone. They're few and far between, but the Everton and Chelsea games last season are a reminder of what we can do. Circumstances contribute and a 1.30pm kick off on a Sunday against Burnley in November is never going to be anything other than flat, unless what's happening on the pitch lifts everyone.
Those Everton and Chelsea games are right up there with the very best I've ever been in, along with when Phillips bagged his 2nd against the Mags, Sheff Utd play-off semi and Chelsea when we beat them 4-1. The other standout atmosphere at the SOL was for England v Turkey. It was brilliant.
