Not only is this sad as fuck, like a billionaire is going to take notice of a few hundred people outside protesting:lol:not going to make any difference to his pocket

I wouldn't be opposed to someone coming in and investing a lot of money in the club obviously but I'm very happy to have Short as our owner.

He's got things wrong but he wants us to do well and he cares about our club, that's the most important thing for me.

Trying to suggest people are better supporters or care more about the club because they can be 'bothered to protest' is a joke in my opinion.

Supporters need to support the team and the club as we try and improve not protest because things haven't been good enough.

'We try to improve'? We're bottom of the bloody league desperate for a win against Hull fckin City in our 5th straight horrible relegation battle.

He's brilliant aye. Buys exiles pints in London and looks after his friends and family by giving them 6 figure salaries at the club.

He'll be there today of course. Cheering the boys on.

From his home in Hawaii.

I couldn't disagree more, he cares about the club and has always had ambitions for us.

He's invested a lot of money into the club and so far he hasn't seen it pay off so I don't blame him if he's starting to have doubts now, although I haven't seen the evidence of that.

Our position in the league isn't great but there's a lot of reasons we are where we are, the point is just about everybody at the club wants to improve on that so why not support them while they try to do it, rather than adding more pressure by organising protests.

I still don't really understand what it is you want to protest?

Dear me. Anything but a win might just push you over the edge. We're in the middle of a 1 match winning streak - exciting times.

I'm not wanting to protest, but since you ask:

1. 5 straight relegation battles.

2. The biggest scandal in the club's history which hasn't gone away, opposition fans still sing about it at every game

3. 80/20 chance of relegation this season

4. Astronomical levels of debt following 10 years in the richest league in the world. Which may well see a decade in the wilderness if we go down.

5. The employment and continued employment of leeches, chancers and shysters throughout the club. Most notably at board level.

6. Abysmal recruitment strategies and a continued policy of blaming the incumbent manager for every failing at the club. Theres been nine of them by the way. And two Directors of Football.

And thats off the top of my head in 30 secs flat.

Apart from that he's fxkin brilliant. Any day now we'll probably find out how much he donated to Donald Trump. Gerrin.

I'm not sure how he can be blamed for a player having inappropriate feelings towards minors like.

Everything you say there is down to poor player recruitment and going through Managers like they're going out of fashion, which are both linked.

The Johnson thing could have happened at any club and probably has (without being reported) the way modern footballers think they're above the law.

At least we've won all of our relegation battles which is more than can be said for another local team with the best Manager in the world.

Anyway Short has a Manager that he has faith in and is willing to back long term now, so it seems exactly the wrong time to be protesting, let's see what Moyes can do to turn our fortunes around.

The club continued to play him knowing he had admitted to it. His club by the way. Not Margaret Byrne's.

Ah sod it. Lets see what happens today.

Its the hope that keeps us at bay and keeps us coming back.

Byrne passed on a note which she had no right to read, although she obviously did, where Johnson admitted kissing the girl.

That's not an admission of guilt because it would depend on the way he kissed her and Johnson continued to protest his innocence.

I think Byrne was naive to not suspend him at that point (not because he's guilty but it must be a breach of child protection rules) and not to tell anyone else at the club what she had seen but that's why she had to step down as Director.

Time to tell Short that he needs to go. I think all of us are sad that it has come to this but it's becoming increasingly clear that he's mismanaged the club to the point where relegation isn't our biggest worry - financial solvency is.

We've been through it all before but he's repeatedly left managers feeling their hands are tied and has made awful decisions that leave us in a perilous position.

Protesting may not help - but it's about time he hears the frustration of the support. It could well result in him acting - he wants rid of the club and is holding out for a higher price. Action might result in him dropping that price enough to get the sale through so we can rebuild for next year.

Let's keep it outside the stadium - the last things the players need is a hostile atmosphere when they're presumably low on confidence as it is, but I for one do not want to sit on my hands until the end of the season, knowing all that we do now about the mismanagement of the club, having done nothing.

The fans are the one real thing that matter to me about this club, and I'm sick of us being misled and manipulated by an owner who clearly has no interest anymore in our success.
Rubbish!

There's a reason for every one of the fuck ups during his tenure. Every single one. And there's a whole load of them.

In the real world they're called 'excuses' and they're dealt with and people improve or lose their jobs

At Sunderland football club there is a culture of fcking up, a culture which lacks accountability - which goes right to the top and a culture of excuses.

Now Bain might be the man to turn it around. I hope he is. But lets not trot out the countless excuses anymore.

Johnson admitted kissing a minor. If that's not an admission of guilt then what is?

Clearly something that can be excused away. As above.

Regardless, there is no protest actually planned..

I believe this was just a thread from 3 weeks ago before everyone was appeased by 3 points at Bournemouth and free clackers.

Nowt to do with me either. But opens up a decent discussion none the less.

It's unbelievable just how many excuses people can make. It was crystal clear to anyone with half an ounce of intelligence what was going to happen after Byrnes statement but we still had people on here burying heads in sand and fighting the good fight.
By the way I'm not strongly in the short out camp as I think a lot of times he's been let down by managers spending poorly but ultimately as man at top the buck will stop with him.

Jards man, get to the pub. This isn't owt to do with the protest, the protest I am hereby cancelling by the way as it was half-arsed to start with.

Mods you have my permission to close this now.

Ta and enjoy the match ;)
Mrs Jardine could go into labour at anytime so had to knock back a ticket today. Mightily inconsiderate of her if she starts about 3pm. Enjoy the the match maxi lad.

The lasting effects are me being sat in a pub at West Ham a month ago listening to 100 cockneys telling me I'm a paedophile supporter.

The c-nt who did is in jail. The CEO who acted naively has gone. Its us thats left with it. And his victim of course.

You should have started windmilling them there mate :)

A kiss can be perfectly innocent, now I'm not saying that footballers should be kissing young girls however innocent it was and that's why I think she should have suspended him but it's not an admission of guilt, unless he admits it was in a sexual way which he did in the end.
