Which ones? As I say, regardless of circumstance, to cover the potential for a person to assault a cop and the subsequent damages claims, every cop is told to handcuff all detainees. Also, just on your point from earlier about fudging the death in custody thing, anyone who comes into contact with police and dies within 48 hrs is referred to the ipcc.

It should be said that the numbers of deaths in custody are relatively low, and lower than they used to be.

Neither link works for me but I am abroad - you should volunteer to be an inspector of custody suites for your local PCC- arrive unannounced as they do and see the reality of how much care is taken to look after detainees. Or not if you're happier with not knowing.
To be fair I noted in the post you're quoting that incidents like this are rare and reducing in frequency, and my first post about it was to say that there's most likely no wrongdoing by officers. I would also note that those figures date back to 1990 when things were quite different.

Ah, so almost not worth posting the links was it really. But you did anyway. So you don't fancy that bit volunteer work then? Got a lot to say in all matters Police, might be good to be speaking from an informed stance for a change and even to reccomend changes or report bad practice?

He was tasered. A tiny proportion of people who get tasered die. If he was at all aggressive or they had grounds to think he posed even the slightest threat to them, entirely justified. Why on earth would they want to roll around fighting with someone and risk getting hurt?

you'd be acting in self defence so not even a slap on the wrist. Certainly not one that would knock the chip off your shoulder anyway.
I'm simply suggesting an advocation that would add a bit of gravitas to your opinions. Take it or leave it, do it or don't but there's an opportunity to present from an informed position. Or continue as you are.
