Andros Townsend £13m Palace

the clause in Townsend’s contract was put in place at the request of the winger’s representatives last January when he arrived from White Hart Lane.

Aye, Andros had nowt to do with it. No player in the world ever wants to leave or consider leaving the mighty 'Toon' :lol:

The player would get his wages anyway, an agent earn a nice fee if a player is transfered...
 
Would have him for sure as he's better than what we've got and he's a rare commodity in being a midfielder/wide player who can chip in with goals. At some point even BSA will need to realise that playing 3 holding CM players and relying on one or two players only to score the goals to keep you up is a high risk strategy!

Given the mass uplift I'm expecting in transfer fees and wages this Summer given the sharp increase in PL TV monies I would have said £13m for someone like Townsend was excellent value. If Palace are the only ones in for him I'm very surprised - you only need to look at Deeney being quoted at £25-30m to see where the market is going to go.

He's an ok player nowhere near top 6 standard yet the mags are going on like he's Ryan Giggs in his prime

The problem with Newcastle fans is they massively overrate every player they sign, only got to look at the cringeworthy way they went on about Cabella and Thauvin, bigged up to levels they can never ever reach. The lack of self awareness Newcastle fans have is truly astonishing.

Is it me or are they progressing through the five stages of grief? Weve had
  • denial:- the dwarfifacation/rafalution,our players are worth £30m apiece and dont want to leave anyway
  • Anger:- they're always angry with someone so would be hard to tell of any increase
  • Bargaining:- current stage pleading with Andros not to leave
  • Depression:- next stage due to start once the championship season starts
  • Acceptance:- should kick in around xmas and they realise they are shit
