Never gets old does it

It doesn't like, I almost forgot about it too. Just been craicing on with a mag at work, saying how good the PL is going to be with all these new managers and superstar players coming etc. He just said, after about 5 mins of banter "are you taking the piss" I honestly wasn't, I forgot. This made the situation even better

Gayle will be a good signing for the mags. Electric pace, good movement, will score goals. Ideal for a championship club aiming for promotion.

He's not quite good enough for the premier league though. Most teams play with one striker and unless you're big and strong you've got to be really good technically (and clever) like Defoe to play up there on your own. Gayle's first touch isn't great when the balls played up to him and his premier league goalscoring record isn't good enough to override that.

A Robert Earnshaw of 2016.

Since he signed for Palace this is his PL record

Games Started - 27
Substitute Appearances - 37
Goals -15
Cheers

I thought that but then again, doesn't really fit into our system. Not really going to play as an out and out striker in a BSA team. Have decent enough options out wide.

For Palace, Wikipedia says 25 goals in 74 games (all comps) not sure how many of those are starting or sub apps though.

Thought he signed a 3 or 4 year deal last season anyway?
Thanks, he did sign a new deal I'm pretty sure

Gayle will do canny in that league imo. Townsend is there best player easily, so will be good to see him leave. I would like to see him here, but doesn't look like we're interested.

Canny player in the Championship.

Not quite a famous number 9 but he will be thrilled at the prospect etc.

I'd have had Dwight Gayle. Deserved more of an opportunity at palace over the likes of Adebayor

The reason he hasn't been a regular is due to the way we play on the counter. He is not a lone front man and he hasn't had the physical strength to fight two centre backs until recently. He needs to play off a centre forward, his best spells as a Palace player were when he was playing off Glenn Murray who held the ball up well.

I like Gale, as a footballer and a person & I wish him all the best if he is off to pastures new.

So, Toonsend not entirely convinced by the project it would seem.

Dwight Gayle - a 1 in 3 striker at Championship Peterborough and 1 in 4 at Palace.

The first cut is the deepest

If he's off to Newcastle, we hope he fails & fails f***ing miserably 8-)

What the fuck, Matt Ritchie now massive favourites to join the filth?
Betting odds are often dodgy when it comes to this

A lot of reports on Twitter suggests the deal will be done. Would be mental that like. Why would he move to championship. And why would they even sell him
I'm hoping this one is a smoking out job, it wouldn't be unusual with a player like Ritchie, because like you say it would be a strange move

He's a decent player but let's not get carried away it's not like he's Lionel Messi. Not that much of an odd signing imo.

A lot of people saying it's going to happen like. We will see. 12m is the fee apparently.
Yeah I've managed to have a peek on Twitter since I posted, it does look very likely. If they are paying out these fees they must be expecting some of their big wage earners to leave, their squad would be massive otherwise and they could really be up shit creek without a paddle.
