Hasn't really had a run in their team TBH. Yeah, maybe the promoted teams and a couple more. I personally think he has a bit to offer, given a run in the first team. I would certainly play him over Wickham anyway !

I agree like. Would offer us something off the bench, his pace is electric. Good squad player who wasn't used enough by Palace last year.

Obviously not comparing the three but Pardew didn't play Tevez or Mascherano when he had them at West Ham. It's not as cut and dried as 'doesnt play = inferior quality to players in the first team'

Pardew needed a goal scorer as they dropped down the league, yet he didn't Really get a sniff, now that could be because he isn't good enough on the pitch or he's a tit off it ?

Or as I suggested, he mightn't fit into Pardew's style of play. We've already had a Crystal Palace fan giving his opinion on Gayle's personality. What is your evidence for him being 'a tit' off the pitch?

I never said he was a 'tit" it just seems strange when they were desperate for a goal he didn't get a sniff ?

Less strange than having a world class striker and midfielder on the bench (playing Marlon Harewood and Hayden Mullins instead) when you're fighting relegation?
 
This isn’t good. They seem to be showing signs of buying players that’d do well in the Championship. Hopefully they retain the players with hearts the size of peas i.e. Sissoko, Shelvey, Wijnaldum etc.

He's been a bench warmer in all his time at Palace not just under Pardew

Those last three have a distinctive style of play which Gayle isn't really suited to.

Exactly, he's a decent signing. He's more than likely not good enough to be starting for a Premiership team week-in-week out but he's good enough for The Championship.
 
Gayle's a good player I think, given we are short on numbers up front atm I thought we'd have been interested

£10m is quite steep mind, but it's the way it's going nowadays

I thought that but then again, doesn't really fit into our system. Not really going to play as an out and out striker in a BSA team. Have decent enough options out wide.

For Palace, Wikipedia says 25 goals in 74 games (all comps) not sure how many of those are starting or sub apps though.

Thought he signed a 3 or 4 year deal last season anyway?

Just over 1 in 4 in the Premier League (not taking into account what minute he came on as a sub). That will do fine for The Championship.
