This is a bad time to prepare for a new season with the Euros coming up and players putting themselves in the shop window etc.

I doubt Newcastle will be buying heavily until they know who wants away and who they can bring in.

I'm sure there are quite a few players who won't want to play in the 2nd division but shifting highly paid relegated players might not be so easy.
 

They'll likely lose Winaldjum and Townsend and a few others, but should still have more than enough for that league. We can always hope for the wheels to come off like....
 
Prefer to line-up Rafa's boys in front of the likes of Brighton than our traditional Man City opening day bu'ggering.

I think Rafa is the best thing for years. Relegation was an unwanted part of the package deal.

Next season was always going to be a rebuilding job. Would have preferred to do that rebuilding in the PL, if I'm honest.

Personally think townsend will stay, not sure who else will realistically offer him first team fball

They are three players with a bit of quality that you could get more out of in the Premiership and who would probably be prepared to hold their nose in the Championship for a season. That's where these wopping 5 year mega deal contracts become a huge stickler. As we have found with 3-4 year deals. Impossible to shift the dross on. It will still take us 1 more season to actually get rid of the deadweight at our club.
Take the mags years to do the same.
It's great for quality players (to hang on to or get huge fee for), but rubbish for the duds, of which the mags have a plenty.
 
Alan Shearer has just been on talkSport promoting a fundraising football match at Kingston Park for his charity. Now that's all well and good, but the game is between NUFC XI and a Man U Select XI. The reason that MUFC are the opposition isn't because they're their rivals, nooooo, its because its nearly 20 years since NUFC beat ManU 5-0 at St' James'! :eek::oops::lol:

In fairness to hull and burnley, I think they had a very good squad that got them into the premier league originally, but not quite strong enough to stay in. Didn't require much tinkering (if any) to get them back up at first attempt.
I think the mags are in a far greater mess in that they thought they were too good to go down, they think they are too good to stay down, when actually there's an overhaul needed on their team to compete in the championship, and they will need to retail If/When they get back up.
Just hope we don't find ourselves in the same position the bed of next season.

The teams that do well tend to stay under the radar for most of the season and pick up in the lately we third. The team at the top for most of the season seam to drop off into the play offs. Let's hope the mags get relegated instead. Pray to god that happens.

But Janey, they DO entertain.

They keep me in stitches. The Pantomime season in Newcastle has Newcastle Untied (not a spelling error) adding its own "Fringe" Pantomime year after year.

... and I love the idea of them playing at a Rugby ground. It so elegantly describes the way they have performed in recent seasons.

Plus, of course we must remember that their Rugby club have been mimicking their own points gathering prowess (or the lack of it) in recent years as well.
