Some just won't accept you's will get promoted with ease. Bit sad really, we are in the divison above and some fans are more concerned on you guys making us look small time.
Why should we accept? No guarantee whatsoever they will get promoted.

Think they're conflating "hope" with "expect" with an added dash of "I f***ing HATE THE MAGS" colouring their prophecy. Not unique to Sunderland fans like.

They will get promoted easily. £50 to any charity of your choice says they will.
It may be your opinion but theres no guarantee at all theyll get promoted nothing is guaranteed in football especially after this season.

There's not a chance Townsend will stay, especially if he does OK in the Euros. He might be there at the start of the season, but I bet he won't be come the end of the transfer window.

I'm not so confident about that. If Newcastle get off to a flying start and the points are mounting up, with promotion looking guaranteed, then I think it would come down to personal aspects such as getting on with the manager and team mates, whether or not he likes the area etc. It also depends on who, if anyone, comes looking for him. I doubt if he would move to Sunderland or Middlesbrough as either of them could be relegated next season and that really would kill his career.

It is pretty sad, had we gone down everyone would be saying we would come back up. The whole country knows/expects mags to come back up but people on here have an agenda to fill.

You guaranteeing it as well then?

Probably because his name in Georginio Wijnaldum and he introduced himself via the Club's media arm as "Gini" Wijnaldum...
  • If he goes this summer we should get a decent amount for him that we can reinvest,
  • If he stays and strops we should still be able to flog him in January,
  • If he stays and plays well we'll have a very good attacking midfielder working under a good coach and
  • If he's still here by the time we're promoted (which I'm confident will happen this coming season) he's definitely good enough for the Premier League and we can keep him/sell him next summer

I can understand why some Sunderland fans are hungry to paint this as a disaster though.
Everything's rosy then eh? You can't lose. Must be a great time to be a Newcastle fan.

I think you'll be promoted easily. Last time I thought you'd struggle, I was wrong. However the general tone coming from Mags is that you've already walked the league. You're only setting yourself up for a fall with the attitude. It's not if/hope/can, it's when.

Daft betting at all mate if i did id just cover it so whats the point? Your opinion is they will get promoted to say otherwise is just ridiculous.

they're 4/5 to be promoted and 10/11 to not be so you can't. And it is a bet for charity so someone is a winner. I paid to the Air Ambulance last time I lost a bet on here

Seems its not only them by posts on here. How can anyone say whats going to happen other than as you say if/hope/can

Fill your boots mate i have no interest in betting. Im sure the air ambulance will be grateful for your donation should the guarantee fail to happen.

If you're that confident they won't go up put your money where your mouth is. I am.

They do it every time, it's hilarious. Remember that post by underwaterspunkbubble, or whatever he's called, going on about if they beat Villa and we lose to Chelsea then Everton would relegate us if they beat us?

I think you'll find it difficult to find a quote in my posts where I've guaranteed it. I am confident we'll come up at the first time of asking though.

No, it's not rosy, we've been relegated from the top flight for the second time in 7 years because the owner has mismanaged us for pretty much the entirety of his tenure. We're still not producing a decent number of young players through the academy. I don't trust the owner to support the manager as he's promised because he's proven (by a court of law) to be a Big Billy Bullshitter :)

But Wijnaldum's exit is neither unexpected nor disastrous.

That's partly braggadocio, partly confidence, but I don't think it's as laughable as Leicester fans thinking they can win the league next year or, say, some of your more exuberant fans predicting a top half finish.

I can't understand why Newcastle fans are painting relegation as one of the best things to happen!

;)
Not sure I've seen any evidence that they are. That might be an exaggeration or at worst, a fabrication.

Where did I say that? Theres a good chance they will be? Nothing is guaranteed though and i certainly shouldnt accept it utter nonsense that mate if you cant see that then its not worth bothering replying.

I was asking the question not quoting you bit of a wee difference there mate. Confident hopeful is all you can be Mr David seems to think the laws of the game have been changed to guarantee you promotion

Don't think he's guaranteeing it, just confident enough in his prediction that he's willing to back it up with actual money. Dead easy to say "they definitely will", or "they definitely won't" when there's nothing riding on it beyond your reputation on an internet message board.

Much of his challenge seems to be in response to the pervading wisdom that Newcastle will struggle in the Championship.

Too many on here saying you will struggle to make themselves feel better when we should be concentrating on ourselves

That's quite true actually, a fair few Mags were saying that last season ......
