I was just thinking - imagine if Rafo was managing Norwich or Villa - would they be as cocksure of coming straight back up under him? Probably not - and yet Norwich were marginally better than the Mags last season. It's just classic Mag delusion. Amazing that all is forgiven with Ashley tooAshley's not daft. He is a gambler though. He knows if they don't get up at the first attempt they're in massive trouble so he's throwing more money at it to try and make sure.
He also knows there'll be massive unrest if he doesn't keep Rafa, so really had not other option once the nayshun decided he was the new messiah.
It's rarely that straight forward though, they've got a team who turn up when they feel like it or when the pressure is off. For example they couldn't put in a performance away to Villa or Norwich, but could thrash Spurs at home when it no longer mattered. It's going to be fun if they lose the first few.
