I could be wrong but even if they keep there entire team I don't think they'll be in the top 2 there's lots of teams who could be up there Derby,Norwich,villa,Wigan,Ipswich,Brighton and probably a few others it's a vastly superior league now to when they last went down and imo I think they'll end up drawing too many

Those teams are an irrelevance, they've got Rafa. Promotion, then top 4.

Get promoted first. You're paying a fortune for Benitez outside the Prem, and you've also had to give him a huge amount of concessions. Going to be interesting to see what he splashes the cash on...

Ok. Say one of those three gets us promoted, then what? (I feel like I'm repeating myself)

Those three have a ceiling that is way below what Benitez's potential is.

Rafa has only ever managed top teams. I'm not sure he's ever built one from the ground up.
I think he's got a decent chance of getting you up and even comfortably safe the next season, but he is working with less money and worse tools than the top half of the Prem - he's a decent tactical manager who is good at cup runs, but this 'top six' and 'top four' malarkey is just emphasising how delusional you really are.

Promotion is not a given. Focus on that first rather than dreams of Champions League.

As for how good Pearson might be, you may well find out first hand as word is he is taking the Derby job...

He fuckin failed with his one and only task ffs, he is not the master tactician and every other cliche you've typed out. £5 million per year in the championship.
 
I'll be sitting back watching what will inevitabley be a saga. Benitez always looks to me that he has high blood pressure and that he is about to keel over when he gets stressed.

This may well be another short lived big pay day for him, or alternatively he may have some success there. Whatever the case may be, he has managed to fail at the first challenge but still maintained the "adoration" of the easily lead.

If the boot was in the other foot and we had suffered the indignation of being relegated by your closet rivals, our supporters would be quite pessimistic and looking at which of our better players that we would expect to lose.....I.e. Being pragmatic and realistic. Most top players want international recognition, European football, high wages, the millionaire lifestyle, the wags etc etc....Convincing players to either stay at their club or head North to play in the Championship will inevitably be challenging. Premier League clubs and the agents of the players themselves, will be hovering like vultures ready to pick off the bits that they want and can sway with better financial deals / packages.

Realism and pragmatism is what is usually needed and they have lost all sight of that thus far. Benitez won trophies with some truly world class players who could perform at the highest level, there squad does not contain one world class player and if it did, those vultures would be ready.

Get promoted first. I genuinely believe you'd have had a better chance with Pearson. Saying that you probably had a better chance of survival in the first place with him. He's not high profile enough for your lot though... You're paying millions more to have the "privilege" of Benitez down there, and you also you have no idea yet what he wants to spend this guaranteed transfer kitty on... High wages on ageing players? You'll struggle to utilize his usual contacts being in the Championship, and he certainly doesn't know the English market for the type of players needed...

And is Benitez really the Premier league saviour if you get back up there anyway? Couldn't beat Norwich. Couldn't beat Sunderland. Couldn't beat Villa. He had plenty of opportunities to keep you up but failed.
His points ratio looks far superior than your performances merited in that run in too. Would your ten men really have beaten a motivated Spurs team so comfortably? Swansea gave up after going a goal behind, you were fortunate against Palace. Liverpool & Man C didn't turn up for the second half, anyone watching could see they were thinking of those Euro semi's. The games when you had a competitive and fired up opposition you failed to deliver. Discounting Spurs as you were already relegated, you won 2 out of the other 9 games. Those home games against Swansea & Palace...
