No it doesn't. Table doesn't show how a team was playing/ Only results. They improved under him.The table disagrees.

BENEATHUS, silly boy.Sorry lads, lets revert to the party line.
HAHAHAHAH MAGS ARE STUPID AND DELUSIONAL THEY ALL THINK THEY WILL WIN THE WORLD CUP I SPOKE TO ONE IN WORK WHO SAID THAT THEY ARE THE BEST TEAM EVER
BENITEZ IS RUBBISH HE COULDNT EVEN KEEP THEM UP HE HAD AGES AND HE IS NEVER AS GOOD AS SAM ALLARDYCE THEY WOULD HAVE BEEN BETTER OFF GETTING DANNY WILSON
IM NOT BIASED OR OBSESSED
I'm a Sunderland fan?He's the best one you've got.
For the record, i'm not certain he'll do well in the Championship, it is a lot different to what he will be used to. But it isn't a joke appointment like some are saying - hes a top European manager and recognised as such.
52 million screaming pounds a yearFell in love iirc.
Would love to see that contract.
And then there was Pardew publicly stating that he didn't want them to go down just before a rather bizarre match. He didn't though ........... it was a little bit and not enough.
They were shite at Southampton and could've conceded 5 or 6 if the Saints had tried, they were all over the place in the first half at Liverpool and only a gift got them back into the game ........ then there was Villa where they managed 3 shots on target against a team that had conceded 3 goals a game in their previous 5.
You do remember that he had your goal difference moving in the wrong direction [compared to Sam] don't you ...![]()
It's true though, tactics against Villa were all wrong.
Too different a scenario for me as a comparison. He entered Chelsea knowing he would be unpopular but knowing that he knew the league and players in it well enough. Entirely different to feeling so loved by the mob that you are prepared to manage in a division where you have no experience. If the love of the mob were to waver I think it will be a lot more daunting than his tenure at Chelsea myself. However, as I say, I don't expect he will have any of early issues/bad results to cause such issues.

This was the head to head of identical games between McClaren and Benitez - there wasn't much difference in results despite the "better attitude" the players demonstrated:
..........................Benitez.......McClaren
Spurs.................Win...........Win
Villa...................Draw.........Draw
Palace................Win...........Loss
Liverpool...........Draw.........Win
Man City...........Draw..........Loss
Swansea............Win............Loss
Southampton....Loss...........Draw
Norwich............Loss...........Win
Sunderland.......Draw..........Loss
Leicester...........Loss............Loss
Total points 13 points 11 points
Over the season they absolutely deserved to go down. They improved their style of play and organisation under Benitez thoughThe table says the look like a relegated side, despite what Morny said.

You're choosing 1 poor game in isolation as if that 1 game is a better reflection of his impact/ability than the other 9 combined. This isn't conducive to worthwhile discussion. It would akin to me saying West Brom proved Allardyce is a poor manager as they were there for the taking.
PreachSo they did improve then? Extrapolated over a whole season, you're talking about 8 points better. So about a 22-23% improvement? That's without considering the fact that you'd expect them to get better the more time he spent with them (as they did, or as we did under Allardyce?).
It's amazing that I don't know anyone who thinks we're anything other than shite, but every Sunderland fan thinks that we think we're Champions League material (not everyone, obviously). Strange, eh?Well I'm not sure where your facts come from but it's not what I find in real life tbh.
There are thousands of idiotic Mags as they keep proving without any help from the media.

How many points from safety were you when Rafa took over? Did you have games in hand at the time?
How many points from safety did you finish in the end?

I wasn't aware a club's performance in the league was in total isolation from other clubs?
They didn't improve in relation to the teams in 4th bottom, despite still having them to play at home.
