Sunderland have stayed up against many people's profound predictions ....... Newcastle appointed an ex-England title winning manager, spent a fortune, had the owner promise them glory, appointed a 2nd title winning manager and were relegated by Sunderland which was a historical/hysterical event.

Nowt to do with it? You'd think he'd be able to gain ground on 4th bottom over 10 games, Allardyce did. He had us/norwich/villa to play and won none. He was lucky to play Spurs when he did too.

He improved them, quite a fair bit, and they didn't look like a relegated side under him, especially their final six games (12 points from 18 is a good return). Fortunately, we went on a great run and just had too much.

And its no more lucky than us playing a Everton who couldnt give a toss.

For the record, i'm not certain he'll do well in the Championship, it is a lot different to what he will be used to. But it isn't a joke appointment like some are saying - hes a top European manager and recognised as such.

He didn't though ........... it was a little bit and not enough.

They were shite at Southampton and could've conceded 5 or 6 if the Saints had tried, they were all over the place in the first half at Liverpool and only a gift got them back into the game ........ then there was Villa where they managed 3 shots on target against a team that had conceded 3 goals a game in their previous 5.
