It'll take a good flogging to get any effort at all out of some of those useless fuckers.
As an expert on all things relating to equine pugilism, I can confirm that those are dead. They have joined the harras eternal. They are ex nags.

I can't see Townsend staying, best solution would be a season long loan. It looks like he's forced his way into the England squad and he'll want to stay there. He's entering the peak years of his career and has spent way too much time on the bench at Spurs and has already racked up plenty of football league appearances as a loan player. He really needs to play premier league football. A loan spell to someone like Palace, Stoke Southampton, West Ham would let the lad get the standard of football he needs to push himself and stay in the England squad. You'd also get a few million loan fee and his substantial wages covered. If you do come back up he can come back into the fold, you'd have a ready made winger there without having to find one.

If he joins a club like Palace, Stoke, Southampton or West Ham why would he rejoin a promoted side? The best option for Townsend is to smash the Euros, try and force a permanent move to one of the aforementioned clubs. We'd get £8m which, while not ideal, would be enough to buy a promising lesser league winger.

I think you know why, number of reasons.
He seems well liked by your fans. You are are bigger than those clubs mentioned and its very likely he'll want to play for benitez over the likes of hughes or pardew. You took a chance on townsend when no-one else would. Not much loyalty left in football I know. Geography might come into it as well. Still think a season long loan might be best for all parties.

Of course best scenario for him is he smashes the euros and gets a move to a top club but can't see it happening.

I hope you lose him for 8m cos he's a talented player.

He's talented, but limited. His one trick almost got us out of the shit, and it's a good trick, but he doesn't cross enough for my liking and Duff-ing every game is what lead to Spurs fans losing patience with him.

We'll sell you will Buckley for £8m. We could even do a straight swap.

Would you take him to euros?
I know that was the spurs fans criticism of him but I thought he'd improved and benefited from a run of games.

Throw in Rodwell and you've got a deal. Ashley's Newcastle needs gutting and we could do with a couple of people to start the fire.

Yeah, he's a good option. It's like Peter Crouch, he's not fashionable but he does the job and it's something different. If the opposition's getting leggy he could get in behind them and if they're camped on the edge of the box he can do his trick.

No, just that it's not more bloated. Quite a few of our 1st team won't be on big wages at all. Elliott, Lascelles, Dummett, Colback, Anita, Perez, Aarons. And those that are on big wages will likely be flogged.

I'm not sure that he is "worth more than Khazri", I certainly have never said that.

But why I think he'll go for North of £10m? Well;
He's a mainstay of the French international team,
He's still got a decent reputation (undeserved you might argue but it exists none the less),
and finally there are championship players going for £10m to other Championship teams, so £10m isn't what it once was.

Whatever he goes for in the end, it'll be a big profit.

You have mate. Khazri £9m from a top 5 league, Sissoko £10+ after two worse seasons from a second tier.

No, not really, but I worry this will lead us down a boring conversation where you misattribute and misrepresent what I've said, to attack it. This is a common logical fallacy referred to as a Strawman.

Sorry mate it's a factual statement, like it or not. Khazri = £9m, you say Sissoko > £10m. I'm seeing only one logical fallacy here...

Newcastle won't sell him cheap, whether or not he's worth it is a different matter. I think he'll go for over £10m

Well they will if he forces it through, he'll want away and the club will have absolutely no bargaining position in the Championship. Dunno why you'd wanna keep him anyway, he's completely anonymous from what I've seen.

I agree, he's frustrating. He can be class on his day, but his day is about 3 times a season. I still think the club will hold out for a decent sized fee

Who would pay it though? French clubs won't afford prem wages and a large fee, and I can't imagine huge interest from anywhere else. £8m maybe more likely?
