fact is, he signed a three year contract when he joined 10 games (and 30 points) ago. so all this posturing is just to see if either side is going to activate the break clause; wonder if he's still drawing his salary while he holds out for another club to make him an offer?

A) No one knows if they are.

B) I'm not jealous if they get him in the 2nd division with such a big rebuilding job to do.

C) I'm happy with Allardyce as he seems to fit in here although Benitez might do well here ....... failed at Newcastle mind.

Villa was the worst because they'd lost their previous 5 games averaging 3 goals conceded per game.

Benitez set up a team with 2 defensive midfielders and only managed 3 on target attempts, 1 per half an hour.

That's failure in anyone's book ........ it was a vital game at a time when Newcastle were out of the bottom three.

He failed to keep Newcastle up which was the one & only reason he was brought in.

But but but, none of that was Rafa's fault, it was Charnley and Ashley!! Keep up.

Whatever went on in the dressing room between Rafa and the players didnt create much of a bounce, and I still maintain that their apparent resurgence was coincidental to what Rafa was doing rather than because of it. Swansea literally handed them a win which was the 'start', then Man City literally couldnt be arsed, Liverpool 2-0 up and absolutely coasting before Mig handed them a goal and they couldnt get going again, and the inevitable Crystal Palace half-arsed offering and missed penalty which surprised no-one at all. When it came to the crunch, the players were not fired up enough to challenge Villa, surely the easiest fixture and 3 points anyone could possibly have asked for.

The only Mag media person I've heard who isnt all that enthusiastic about Newcastle and Rafa is Ando from TotalSport. He called it saying he hadnt actually seen much of an improvement in the team, and quite rightly whilst the mags were all sucking each other off by beating spurs 5-1, he maintained it was irrelevant. There should have been rage from the mags about the combined Villa and Spurs matches, but they just daren't say anything for fear of losing out on Rafa the saviour and restorer of the mag big-time that they so richly deserve.

Aye, BBC saying he is just waiting for assurances on finances to strengthen. Not a good sign for Newcastle if he thinks he needs to spend a lot and can't recover value from the existing squad.
