Rafa isn't playing for them, they still have the same team they had under tufty - I'd be delighted to see them acquire 0 points, but I'll be kind and say they could emerge with 4.
 

I wouldn't dare hazard a guess on the derby result but one thing is certain. We've won 6, not 3, so all of this new manager bounce stuff is irrelevant.

I think the OP is spot on point wise.
 
Great appointment for them. But dear god there is no happy medium with that lot is there, they are either on suicide watch or claiming they will do a Leicester and getting 'rafa is a geordie' tatooed over there flabby torso.

Only put them for a win against us as we love to roll over against a new manager. We laid out the red carpet for Chelsea and Leicester this season going 3-0 down in a short space of time.
 
I'm hoping for a Terry Connor at Wolves type bounce. Appointed when they were in the bottom 3 with 13 games to go...

Well, he can't really do worse than McClaren. If he sets Newcastle up to win games by attacking, then they could pick up a few wins and a couple of draws towards the end. So long as we don't lose to them and keep plugging away like we have been recently, we might still keep our noses ahead of them. Or it could happen that all the attacking approach does is make more high scoring draws, so dont lose that many, but only pick up one or two wins. They looked doomed under McClaren, so no matter how bad the team is - the unkown factor of how they'll do under Benitez already gives them a better chance of staying up than they had. The downside really is that it would be at our expense, as I can't see both of us accumulating enough points to overtake Swansea or Palace.

One good aspect is that Newcastle are a poor attacking side ........ it's one thing setting up that way but altogether different making it work.
