Newcastle Manager Situation

Rafa's failings with the biggest name players (being a strict disciplinarian, tactical rigidity, over emphasis on defensive solidity) are exactly what their squad needs right now. I think it's a cracking appointment sadly.

This, their manager is Steve f***ing McClaren, people kidding themselves that it isn't a good move

It makes it more annoying that we didn't win at Southampton, that is going to cost us big time

You can go on about 'defensive solidity' all you like but its Steven Taylor and Side Show Bob we are talking about here.

I honestly think Rob Elliott is their best player.

They can't score goals now. Being defensive and more rigid will only make that worse.

He's better than tufty, but I'm not convinced like.

If it happens (and it's still a very big 'if') then it'll be interesting to see how the likes of Sissoko respond. There's a bloke who's been listening to Steve McClaren's bullshit patter, tactics and motivation. Now he'll have Benitez drilling him and organising them, I've got a feeling he'll respond positively and he'd clearly switched off and has coasted through the season disgracefully. He'll command far more respect than McClaren and that may be the biggest impact he has, they may just look like they give a fuck.

What's that got to do with it? He done poorly, plenty of others have a bounce, we know that from experience.

My point is people saying it doesn't matter because the players are shit so they're doomed regardless are being very naive; there's a decent chance a new manager will boost them and get over the playing faults.

He might not, and I'm not saying that they'll stay up. But it isn't as simple as "he can't sign any defenders so they're down".

It proves that, in this case, people who think a new manager doesn't make any difference aren't, frankly, mental.

No it won't.

He would be a great appointment and if we were in the same position we would be over the moon, Hopefully it turns out to be false.

No it won't.

I think it might, and so does our manager

Obviously you know better.

Agree. It will be a huge cost that game.

Benitez will undoubtedly be better than Mcclaren

:lol::lol:

One example. And even Garde improved them at first - through Dec and early Jan they were actually a bit more solid, and eeked out soke draws (big improvement on previously).

But to not acknowledge that a new manager can give a team, no matter how shit, enough bounce to stay up is f***ing mebtalmental. PDC is a clown and he done it. Advocaat is well past his best and he done it. Fucks sake, Lawrie Sanchez has done it before.

OK, here's another example ........ Shearer came in, didn't improve Newcastle and they were relegated.

So the answer is sometimes yes and sometimes no ...... but neither means people are mental.

bit worried a galvanised Newcastle might mean us having to win 5 more matches to stay up. Let's hope Benitez says no, although for £6 mil for a couple of months work, I don't see why he would

Would be better for them having Benitez than tufty but surely Benitez never being in a relegation battle before will have some significance.

Did for a bit, picked up a win and a couple of draws, imploded after a while

So, overall they haven't improved and Villa will be relegated, just as Newcastle were with their new manager.

I don't think they will now, if they fail to get 3 points from facing us and Norwich they'll be down imo, same as us

So you're saying Remi Garde made a positive difference to Villa?

No but Dick Advocaat and Di Canio f***ing kept us up at similar times man

Some people are so ridiculous with their bias against Newcastle
