Back or sack?

The fact that – that club of black and white – somehow limped into Tuesday striding some kind of third way is entirely typical of the reign of . When the Magpies have needed decisive, definitive action they have pursued an opaque middle ground which is no good to anyone – least of all who is witnessing his authority eroded by the second.

sssshhhhhh keep it quiet m8 thought hes doing a good job myself

Breaking: Steve McClaren has left the training ground after less than an hour.
presumably he passed on his entire footballing knowledge in this short training session and had nothing more to teach them

Still not fired yet. If I was trying to train those sack less shites I would give up less than an hour as well.

For a club in that position it is a very difficult call. Do they sack and potentially get a new manager boost to save them or stick with Steve? We know that boost has saved us a few times, but then we have also struggled to attract a manager of decent quality.

Take the likes of Moyes. He had a great name in England with Everton, but his performance at Man U tarnished that. Newcastle have big problems, the most notable being lack of fit defenders. The best manager in the world can't made defenders from nothing. If Moyes took over there is still a very good chance they would go down. Would he want that on his CV?

I think they will struggle to get any quality in and be forced into a stop-gap measure. Shearer to return?

Good post mate. Moyes cv will see him attract a good role in the summer, why would he risk relegation and the thought of the mags "reactive" supporters.

Rafa Benitez :D, I'm sure he's excited about the role

Newcastles problem isn't the manager. It's the players. They have far too many flashy forwards who underperform, and not enough defenders who can fight for a win. Shelvey is their most important player right now.

But it is really hard to see how another coach can turn things around with the current players. I am not even convinced that all of their players actually want to see the club stay up. I think a few of them look like they don't want to be there and want an excuse to leave

The press are desperate to be first with the news he has gone.

Looks likely that he will be there for the Leicester game.

brilliantly misleading headline that!
'resigned' as in 'he's resigned'? No
'resigned' as in 'he's re-signed again'? No
'resigned' as in 'He's resigned to losing his job but hasn't quite yet? Maybe
ridiculous
Plenty of wriggle room.

Read that Chronicle article and they seem to be say what we have said about player power at SAFC.

But I was surprised that I was one of only 5% who voted to keep SM in his job!
