I think if people are going to quote meetings as proof of their point then they should give timings so we can have context.

The funny thing was, when the trial started I wanted to post something along the lines that the club had turned a blind eye to it. Then I thought I'd just get banned and it wasn't worth it for something so absurd.

I apologise for embarrassing myself by not jumping to conclusions about the club based on statements from a proven liar and criminal, made in court with the entire purpose of making him look like he didn't continue to plead not guilty so that he could continue collecting his £40,000 a week.

I'm deeply ashamed that I believe police evidence stated in court that Byrne was at no point told what Johnson had admitted in his interviews.

The numerous articles in the press that are all taken from a single small exchange in court which we have yet to see any quotes from are just confounding my embarrassment.

I'm going to leave this thread now and hang my head in shame.

The statement they released does not explicitly deny that they had seen evidence he kissed and messaged the girl, as Johnson and his legal team alleged. It is a carefully worded, lengthy statement and that omission is concerning; when they've vehemently denied knowing he'd change his plea, why not deny the other allegations? I think the club will have to comment further to be honest, pressure is mounting from fans and journalists. It does beg the question why they avoided that particular point in the first place.

I don't think anyone has said the FA forced us to play him mind, the PFA maybe but not the FA.

Sounds like politics at its finest regarding the Echo's 10 Questions to Sunderland.....or a public deposition of Sunderland moral ethics either why I hope Sunderland says nothing other than there released statement....
