Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

I don't see how Byrne's position is tenable; especially given the context of her criminal law background - but ultimately it's up to Short.

They took advice from the Club's lawyers which are retained to advise on all legal matters. She may be a qualified lawyer but she is employed as the CEO and she certainly wouldn't have been acting independently making decisions on the Club's actions during this past year.

That was one of the charges though.
So he admitted his guilt to his QC and Byrne?
Then later pleaded innocent to the charge and had his QC still representing him knowing he was guilty of the charge?
Hmm doesn't quite add up

Entering a not guilty plea is just putting the prosecution to proof. What a QC can't do is let his client lie on the stand if he has privately told the QC he did it. But of course he eventually pleaded guilty to the things he admitted in his interviews so that wasn't a problem at trial.

And once again, you honestly don't believe that we didn't get a legal expert to go through our stance / options with a fine tooth comb ?

I understand we may not have been able to sack him but even if we couldn't suspend him either he shouldn't have been playing. IF what has been claimed by Johnson is true and he has admitted to the club he has sexually kissed and minor then I think they have gone the wrong way about it, it's even worse if they had access to the Whatsapp conversation history

Sent them an email:

'During Adam Johnson's recent Crown Court trial it was alleged that the club 1) received court documents including but not limited to his police station interview transcript and whatsapp messages and 2) heard an admission from Johnson that he kissed the victim. It is alleged our CEO was aware of both these matters.

If neither of these are the case, then I would strongly urge yourselves to come out and deny that these are true, as regrettably the current club statement fails to address these matters. If they are true then the CEO should resign as a matter of urgency.

It is a crying shame that the club's name has been tarnished in this affair, and failing to set the record straight at this stage is only making matters worse. I understand, given your statement, that you will not be in a position to reply to this email. '

Well my email for a start, but they should just issue a statement answering the q's. they issued more than one statement during the di canio fiasco and that was nowt compared to this.

It's arrogant enough to believe people need the likes of you to tell them what to do and even worse to type it out for them as if they couldn't.

Instead of attention seeking, and posting your email, why not just send your email?

Or he told the club it was a kiss on the cheek/forehead and that she's exaggerating. Fuck knows.

I know mate, was my thoughts initially but another poster said he had admitted to sexually kissing her in his first police interview. It's confusing as fuck to me so I just keep saying IF

I don't want to slam the club and I don't know / understand enough to do so but some of this looks canny dodgy

His QC never represented him in court on the basis he wasn't guilty, because by the trial he had admitted it. The QC can put a NG plea in even when something has been admitted to him, happens all the time, part of the tactics of a criminal trial.

Anyway the allegation isn't that he admitted his 'guilt' because he was saying the whole time that he was 'not guilty' but that while saying he was 'not guilty he also admitted kissing her... Much like I could say 'Mr X called me fat so I punched him in the face but I'm not guilty!'. Well you have admitted the offence but are still maintaining your innocence... happens all the time.

Except that it's nothing like.

Which bit do you disagree with?
You'll be referred to the statement they already made. You know this.

Which is the correct approach. Their statement isn't worded right but that doesn't mean they are covering up wrongdoings. We don't know what was said in that meeting so we can't judge either way. It comes down to whether you back the clubs judgement or a convicted sex offenders word.

So if you ring that number you speak to one of the team? :)

I don't know if it's true what the other poster said but if it is I retract my post earlier post this morning calling everyone a wanka and a sad tw@t. :D

SAFC fans should never express how they feel towards the club. Presumably you never shout to players to shoot or whatever at the matches, because after all, that would be so arrogant that you could tell a player what to do? You're allowed to contribute positive and negative feedback to your football club you spenk.

What is your obsession with attention-seeking? Did your parents used to deprive you of attention? You asked 'what they should respond to' - I said exactly what - the email I sent. If I was looking for 'attention' the last thing I would do is post an email on here because after 5 years on the board it is clear to me that the last thing people like is emails, letters etc. sent, probably primarily because most posters can't string a sentence together.

For someone who persistently shouts as loud as he can in threads and bores the rest of the SMB to death, you should be well aware of what being an attention seeker is.
