Adam Johnson Trial Verdict

What a load of a crap, it happens all the time.

If he admitted to the club he had sexually kissed the girl they should have washed their hands of him straight away, IF they have kept playing him knowing he had done it but thought he was going to plead not guilty then the people who have made the decision want shooting for me

I can't talk for anyone but myself but I thought they only lifted his suspension and kept playing him was because the club he hasn't done anything wrong. It's f***ing awful this

He was in the meeting when it was said by AJ and she had the messages.
That was one of the charges though.
So he admitted his guilt to his QC and Byrne?
Then later pleaded innocent to the charge and had his QC still representing him knowing he was guilty of the charge?
Hmm doesn't quite add up

It implies you're assuming guilt, whatever way you look at it !

But if he admitted to doing it he was guilty no matter which way he was going to plead. IF this is how it happened then they should have washed their hands of him as soon as he said it, doing anything else was always going to end badly for the club

Sent them an email:

'During Adam Johnson's recent Crown Court trial it was alleged that the club 1) received court documents including but not limited to his police station interview transcript and whatsapp messages and 2) heard an admission from Johnson that he kissed the victim. It is alleged our CEO was aware of both these matters.

If neither of these are the case, then I would strongly urge yourselves to come out and deny that these are true, as regrettably the current club statement fails to address these matters. If they are true then the CEO should resign as a matter of urgency.

It is a crying shame that the club's name has been tarnished in this affair, and failing to set the record straight at this stage is only making matters worse. I understand, given your statement, that you will not be in a position to reply to this email. '

Who, exactly, should they respond to?

Well my email for a start, but they should just issue a statement answering the q's. they issued more than one statement during the di canio fiasco and that was nowt compared to this.

I hope they reply with a SMBesque "FUCK OFF"

That would be great, I'd give them a like

And once again, you honestly don't believe that we didn't get a legal expert to go through our stance / options with a fine tooth comb ?

Who, exactly, should they respond to?

Could they not have refuted Johnson's claims in the released statement? All they have mentioned is about his plea change, not what they actually knew

Oh and I'm not one to slate the club at all but this does look dodgy to me

Don't see why people are getting so worked up by the BBC and certain media outlets.

They're asking for the club to answer questions, which despite the lengthy statement, they have not answered.

All they have said is that they believed AJ would plead not guilty. It fails to respond to the accusations that Byrne/the club did in fact know he was at least guilty of kissing and grooming. The club need to clear this up one way or another.

If Johnson admitted to the club he knew the girl was under 16 and gave them copies of ALL the messages in May 2015 when the season was almost over why would we not sack him there and then given that at that time his trial date was set for August ?
Why on earth would we continue to pay out 60k a week over the summer when we knew that he would be found guilty and be sacked within 3 months . Surely we would have sized the chance to free up the wage bill even more to bring in new players ?
Unless of course he lied to us and didnt give us all the messages.
I don't think the club want to get in a war of words with a former employee who is now a convicted sex offender .

Sad bastard

His QC never represented him in court on the basis he wasn't guilty, because by the trial he had admitted it. The QC can put a NG plea in even when something has been admitted to him, happens all the time, part of the tactics of a criminal trial.

Anyway the allegation isn't that he admitted his 'guilt' because he was saying the whole time that he was 'not guilty' but that while saying he was 'not guilty he also admitted kissing her... Much like I could say 'Mr X called me fat so I punched him in the face but I'm not guilty!'. Well you have admitted the offence but are still maintaining your innocence... happens all the time.

Or he told the club it was a kiss on the cheek/forehead and that she's exaggerating. Fuck knows.
