I was even impressed with Kirchhoff - and I have to say that after his debt against Spurs I did have a little groan when I saw him on the team sheet tonight.

All in all, new signings looked positive.

The true footballing experts (and by that, I mean me) saw something in Kirchoff against Spurs. Barring his really shite contributions, he looked like he was composed on the ball.

Not a centre half for the Premier League mind.

Kone was decent. Good pace, strength and aerial ability. Cut out the long balls and he'll be very decent

:lol::lol::lol:

I have to declare myself as a non footballing expect, because what I saw that day filled me with fear!

I like Sam's summary in his email: "the fans loved it when Yaya Toure bounced off him!"

So true, so true........

So did Allardyce. I was sitting in the west stand close to the dug outs and he had git massive smile on his face when Kone took him out.

I am hoping so :)

I did see a lot of positives from tonight - just hope it is not a case of too little too late!

Kone was no doubt helped by the experience of O'Shea and by Kirchhoff sitting in front of him, but that was an impressive debut, considering it was against Man City, and when we remember what Aguero did to Coates last season.

He's come from the French league one, so maybe if we do drop he might be persuaded to stick around for another year, he could become a great signing.
