Any player in the bottom 3 of the Premier League cant be remotely described as best in Europe especially a defender!

Matt Le Tissier was probably the best player in the world for a time that Southampton were seriously struggling. Surely it is more difficult to be a great player in a poor team than a great player surrounded by other great players? At one point last season when Catts was on form, the Press started to point out that he was statistically one of the best players in Europe. Mascherano was outstanding for a West Ham side that just barely stayed up.

Statistics mean nothing, the value of player is from what he does on the pitch and they system he plays in that provide the value to your own team, its pointless obsessing over stats and figures as a fan because all they will do is reinforce and dismiss the pointless arguments you have with selective material

Matt Le Tissier was not the best player in the world.

Having a nose as we play them this weekend and found this thread -

Seems they are completely oblivious to the fact he's made more headers etc due to all the others they list not playing for shit teams that spend more time defending than the ones they play for
To be fair they've got a very catchy tune for him. Are you going to SJP? - if so, listen out for it, especially if you like a bit of Earth Wind and Fire.

''Aye. He's been class. A top top player. Hopefully we can hang on to him for his entire career but I can see someone like Chelsea or Barca snapping him up in a year or so.''

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

Genuine quote from a mag this summer at graft... "When Perez goes I a year or two we should be looking to get the same as what City paid for Sterling!"

I f***ing despair at times.

What the fuck is toon forum?

Playing fast and loose with the word 'young'. He's got 4 birthdays.
  • He was registered as being born in 1988 by both of his Congolese clubs
  • His national team initially registered him as born in 1991
  • Anderlecht registered him as born in 1994
The older he gets, the younger he gets!
Even more bizarre, Mbemba himself reckons he was born in 1990.

If he's 21, I'll eat my f***ing shoes. His age suddenly drops by several years when the interest of teams in Europe arises...I wonder why?
Freddy Adu syndrome. 17 year old player appears awesome, better for his age group than others = player is actually 28 trying to get a transfer based on non-existent potential :)

Not sure what you are getting at here are you saying is or isnt? As I said there is no possibility that any player can remotely be considered the best in Europe if they are playing for a team that is struggling especially a defender. Not saying this lad isnt a good player no idea i dont watch them but no way is he close to being the best player in Europe.

Le Tissier would laugh at you mate, seriously .........

Some people only seem to know Le Tissier as the slightly chunky bloke from the match score reports. He was an absolutely outstanding player. I have never seen a player like him before or since. He was the best of a crop of players that would have most likely have won Southampton the league if all the rest had not been sold on. For several seasons he pretty much kept what would otherwise have been a mediocre second flight Southampton team in the Premiership all by himself. He was the most reliable outstanding match winning performer the Premiership has ever seen. Part of the reason for that was that he did not even have to be particularly fit in order to deliver those terrific performances.

Tevez was outstanding

mascherano did very little

To be fair i the first half of the season neither did Tevez

On account of Pardew picking Hayden Mullins and Marlon Harewood in front of them :eek:
