When i say Colback's had wins against many top PL clubs i always meant Man Utd, Chelsea(Abramovich era), Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City(late awab mans). I used to say it every time but it got a bit repetitive.
Those are the games i feel are wins against top sides but they only go back maybe 5-8 years for some.

I can guarantee it did and on quite a regular basis, either in games or even more often in the close season when new players were tried out, and often sent scuttling back to their seats or nintendos!!
Not every sport has fancy academies and full youth systems. Ultimately though, if you keep on defeating those ahead in the pecking order, you can't be denied, even if they don't want to accept it.
 
We average less than a point a game when Colback starts over the course of his NUFC career. He's grrrrrrrrrrshit

Did i, when?
I can think of one particular role player who got little respect from fans but every player knew how important he was to us. His percentages for finishing plays were only slightly less than stars, but because the way things work in professional sport the plays were always set up for the stars to shine (absolutely correctly as that was the only way to benefit from the extra 5% or so). He would be one to set them up and the crowds perception was that he could do nothing else. In reality he was a great team player who also excelled in a below the limelight role. I was aware of some "so called" top amateurs taking the piss out of him a bit and tried to put them straight but they knew best. A situation arose down the line in a lesser level of the game when these fellas came up directly against the pro and he f*cking destroyed them. Not in his "usual" team role, but in full attack mode. He gained their full respect, they couldn't do anything with him at all.
The same player played against a top side in a tv game and due to injuries and a couple of players getting sent off ended up at the end of the plays for once. The pundits wrote him off predicting disaster but he did a great job that day too. It was no surprise to us. Things aren't always what they may seem when watching a professional team. Certain players given roles may only be a notch or two behind those in other roles, but because of this spectators never see it.

Has he only missed three games this season?
I thought he was out longer, maybe there's been a couple of international breaks in there.

Do you know what one of these "?" is? I asked the question, i didn't have the answer.
It seems strange that a newcastle manager under threat for his job would rush Colback into the team so quickly from injury. Then again he's only following what 6 other professional managers have done before him.
Maybe you should email Tufty the facts and figures so they can drop him for the next game. Usually when Colback gets dropped for "better" the team concedes 6, as we did also!! It was enlightening to see our "know it all" brigade backtracking to get Colback in again when the sixth crossed the line at villa. Amateur f*ckwits the lot of 'em!!:)

Would it be fair to say 99.9% of people on here who "judge" him are failed sportsmen themselves? There can't be many of those failures who'd choose a different option if they'd passed every test like Colback did.

Colback's been through every level amongst thousands of young lads and he was the one who did it. Were you one of the failures he saw off and that's why you're bitter?
I went through a completely different route in the sport i made money from and encountered many different problems. Starting very late many said my background and understanding of the game would be highlighted and in lots of ways it was. At the start the "judges" were correct with the faults they saw, but unlike others they were blind to the good i was doing. I was very lucky that the only opinions which mattered were those of experienced professionals and it wasn't long before i added awareness and understanding to what some said was just savage aggression(not my words).

Next time you watch the mediocre Colback take a look around the stands and remember, he saw off 99.9% of those watching to get on the pitch himself. Being a mag is one thing, but de-valuing his achievement is another. Our club de-valued him and that's why he's no longer here.

This thread all over. Good value PISTON at times, puts his neck on the block but also man enough to accept when hes had an utter howking.
