You need to start valuing yourself more highly. As others have said, leave asap.Part of my problem is that I really enjoy the work itself - it's intellectually and creatively stimulating - it's just the bullshit that comes along with it, and being paid about a third of the wage I should be getting for it.

I don't use it every night. I can't switch off when av got to be up for work mainly cos am worried about getting no sleep! I start work later wed, thurs and fri so usually take it then (at the most)What if you stop it? It's ok for a short while that, is all.

Anyone needed time off work with stress that was caused by your job/workplace/bosses?
Did you manage to go back to the same job afterwards or did you have to find somewhere else to work because going back would have been too stressful?
As of Wednesday I've been off with stress, but my doctor suspects that an illness I had a few weeks back that I had thought was a virus may actually have been stress too.
So, I've been prescribed a course of diazepam over the phone by the Urgent Care Doctor at my local surgery, and have a proper doctor's appointment in a week to see how I'm going, but right now pretty much my every waking thought is stressing about going back to my job, facing the same old shit that sent me this way in the first place but with the extra added stress of worrying about talking to them about having had time off with stress.
I'd quite like to hear about other people's experiences of being in similar situations if you don't mind sharing.
P.S. Diazepam's quite good isn't it?
The removal of legal aid for practically all employment disputes, means that there is renewed impetus to join a union. Sorry to hear that marraIm going through it myself at the minute.
Constant worry, over thinking everything and at the worst its panic attacks.
The attacks have subsided thankfully due to the meds.
Just when i feel like im getting on top of it it comes back and kicks me in the knackers. Just got to keep picking yourself up.
Exercise helps and when you talk to people about it you see how common things are.
Im still working full time at the minute but its a struggle so might look at having reduced hours.

This mindfulness book that was mentioned earlier in the thread seems good also.
Just downloaded it before and the initial observations are spot on.
Never thought i would ever get to the stage where i was cross legged and meditating on the floor.
Beats watching shite on tv i suppose.
I start Cognative Behaviouroul Therapy tomorrow, doctor put me on Citalopram last week. Hopefully that'll sort me out!

You dont have to do mindfulness cross legged on the floor you can even do it walking or eating , anything can be done mindfully .
Cbt is not just about talking , the vast majority of change is caused by direct experience in behavioural experiments . If the unhelpful cognition is identified closely enough and good experiments can be devised it often causes a shift that no amount if talking will.Good luck & best wishes, the wife swears by that.
I've had C.A.T., group therapy, & individual counselling but feel beyond all that talking nonsense.
A lost cause, probably.
