Totally agree he could be a good player and prove some good business when they sell him on in a few years.

However i just thought given how unstable they were as a club last year, they'd have been better off getting Austin as they'd no what they were getting and that he can do it in the Prem.

£13.5 for a 20 with masses of potential.
but a 20 commanding that value must be pulling in 60k+ a week. you going to need a very good support system around the lad. add the fact away from home n a city like newcastle massive
as if i had that wealth a such a young age i'd look like keith richards by the time as was 24

You said "massive financial problems" initially, that is what I am saying is opinion.

As for massive debt, it was £80m which was peanuts compared to some clubs. About half of that was a long term mortgage (for the ground improvements) which would have been paid off in about 5 years.

I'm not doubting that the reasons Hall/Shepherd sold up was that they saw the dividends gravy train coming to an end, and neither of them fancied getting their hands in their pocket.

Saw the goal from there game on ssn and there was a huge banner behind the goal along the lines of "sold our soul". He's put money in last summer and now by the looks of it. Not sure what they want, that would cause the clampets to go on like they do.
