Of course it is. No-one knows what would have happened had Ashley not taken over, it's all hypothetical.
So actual debt cannot be connected to the concept of going bust, but half way through a season with 19 results to be decided a manager can be sacked because he's going to take us down.

Football history is littered with clubs that have or almost went belly up through spending money that they didn't have. Look at where Leeds are.

As for Reggie's post about Shepherd 'pissing away the golden opportunity handed to him by John Hall' that is laughable. Hall - Shepherd, Shepherd - Hall, they are conjoined twins as far as running Newcastle are concerned. They are both equally guilty in my eyes for the level of debt and the obscene amount that they took out of the club before Ashley pitched up and after he did.

The only thing that truly narks me about Ashley is he made mistakes but instead of chasing the two blokes who diddled him he's hell bent on getting it back from the supporters.

How is he getting it back from supporters? Aren't your prices pretty reasonable?

Tbh i'd be more concerned with the fact your defence are shite and GK looks quite suspect.

Can't disagree there. We've conceded something like 60 goals in the previous 3 seasons, yet effectively are persisting with the same players.
Coloccini is just about finished, Taylor injury prone/thick as mince and Williamson is just f***ing awful. Another season of struggle awaits if we don't get a couple of new players in at the back.

The Halls are guilty of taken my their coin out of the club, but their real crime was appointing Shepherd to run the club and leaving the knacker in charge.

Sacking Dalglish 2 games into the season, and then repeating it with Robson, appointing Souness, Roeder & Allardyce, the ludicrous signing of Owen....those were all Shepherd's decisions, as per one of Freddie's drinking/poker buddies.

Never heard of either of them. Where's the Belgian league experts? At least all the Mag posters will come out of the woodwork now. I haven't seen them since April 5th.

But the actual FACT is, his money stopped you getting into massive financial problems. Whether someone else would have done the same is hypothetical, the fact he did is not
