:)))))))) Coates isn't even close to Smalling. He just managed to get a few games ahead of Vergini and he's class?! Has the ability to improve, but let's not get carried away.

Don't think many are saying they are experts in these players however, given their stature, current clubs and the amount of international experience. Can only be a good thing. We have been shopping in the bridcutt and Buckley aisle for a long time. Good to see us move up a level.

Also, Johnsons posts have been removed from the thread? Unless I am being stupid.

I have to say it feels like the Coates and Matthews are filling the squad. MAtthews can play right or left full back and has played right midfield for Celtic. It gives us some more options. I hope I'm right as I'll be disappointed if our transfer 'splurge' is a cluster of £2m- £4m players as it's apparent our squad needs some pretty hefty remodelling
 
I know Dicks old school but multi stage fitness test? Everyone knows that the YoYo Intermittent test is more football specific to ascertain VO2 Max..

Next he'll be having them do the Cooper run in bin bags!

England have stacks of defenders better than coates aswell, youre talking absolute shits

Agree with this. It's the wide forward positions we really need to sort out as I'm not convinced anyone we've got in the squad who is a natural to play there. For me, we need at least 2 players to play wide. Be well happy with Lens and wouldn't mind Moses either.

He just goes through bio-polar type episodes. Really do not get it. Questions anyone and anything like no one can do anything that he can not. Strange how his posts disappeared from here, thought he may have been banned. Do not think he has though.

Agree with this. Think we have now (provided the ones we are reported in talks with come off) have plugged the necessary gaps that needed filling which is why I still think we have a few transfers yet in us that will be of genuine quality
