It's generally that Johnson finds it hard to accept that anyone can know or do something he can not or does not do. I really don't understand it. So bitter. Maybe, your job within the media sector doesn't do it for you? That's fair enough, just don't try to laugh off shit when your completely wrong.

Excellent post , nice to see someone's being positive

No worries mate. I know the clubs moving in the right direction so I am happy to be positive. It's a good thing. Of course, it all needs to come together on the pitch though!

Guess but the last 3 would have to be very good quality then.
Why would they have to be 'very good quality'? Are you insinuating Lens, Matthews, Coates, and Lombaerts aren't 'very good quality'? Who would meet your criteria for 'very good quality'? And how much do you envisage these 3 costing? And in which positions?

No idea why, but I am genuinely optimistic. It's good to hear Rodwell has come back into training firing on more cylinders than he showed last season, every Everton fan I know have said its mental more than physical with him so perhaps we are just seeing the penny drop.

He tries to tell people he is a happy clapper and non confrontational. Seriously, I took him off ignore I wish I didn't. Think it was because he wouldn't leave me alone and just followed me about on here. I wouldn't even bother. Just just crawl back under his rock and stay there.

Back on ignore for the melt.

Hardly anyone on here will have seen lombaerts play, or matthews or lens

People getting excited like they do every summer ( i am not saying theyre shit before anyone gets upset )

I'm not saying there aren't, but its not enough, we need a couple of quality centre mids, another winger and another striker.

We were solid last year but were the lowest scorers in the league, we need a lot of work.

If we complete the deals for Matthews, Lens and Lombaerts adding that to Coates, we probably need 2/3 more.

A quality midfielder that can spray the ball and maybe another forward. One or two utility players and we're done.

We could try to get some money back from sales as well. Roberge, Giaccherini, Bridcutt, Buckley and Fletcher. Might not make a lot but all goes back towards buying.
Van Ginkel fits the midfielder so we need a striker then....

Disagree. 2 of the 3 (Lens and Lombaerts) are internationals for countries that have for far better squads than England. Coates is a solid defender who we know can do a decent job at CB.

Okay Matthews might turn out to be a pile but for me, he's a decent prospect and on the cheap will offer something new.

If we compare the above players listed to the ones we signed in 2014 or the year before, it's clear there's a step-up. The other 3 could be the likes of Downing, Wijnaldum etc.

These players are better than the likes of Bridcutt, Buckley, Gomez, Graham who were playing regularly last season for us.

Precisely. Until they're here, I'll remain skeptical but it's very positive. The general standard of players we have been linked with is/look like we could possibly sign is quite high considering we were nearly relegated.

Things looking up.

Just agreed with what I said completely

Where do you disagree with what I say?

We are still massively short in centre mid and attacking positions, so the last 3 would have to be very good quality, as thats where our shortcomings are.

By the way Giacherini had similar pedigree to the dutch lads. Thats by the by though

Aye, he's heading that way for sure. Spouts utter tosh, but then again most on here do.

So not all my questions were answered there, whatever though. A COUPLE of CMs, implies two, so that means we will have 6 first team midfielders, plus these extra 2, making for 8 first team CMs, along with 4 youth team CMs who will be looking to break through. Not going to happen. As you said we were solid, so to my mind, that means we need to improving the CM, the wingers, and the strikers. If playing a 433, then only 1 CM is needed and 2 wingers/strikers. If playing more of a 4231, then we will once again only need 1 CM, with again 2 wingers/strikers.

Unless we sell, Gomez, Bridcutt, and Giacc, then we will NOT be bringing in 2 CMs. As things stand only Bridcutt looks likely to leave.

I wouldn't say we're massively short. If we've got Cattermole, Larsson, Rodwell and another player. We might also have either Bridcutt or Gomez. That's 5. Downing (If he signs) could be 6.

We need a wide-man (Lens) regardless of what the Johnson situation turns out to be. Another striker/AM would be necessary.

So you're right we need additions but it's not like we have to sign about 12/13 players like under PDC.

Plus off the wage books, perhaps more importantly..

Yeah but we do need a few centre mids, people like gomez are OK but can't have the starting many games if we want to move up the table

We need good quality options, I am not saying anything controversial here, but IMO if the likes of Bridcutt, Gomez, Graham and co are starting games then we have issues.

We will only have solidified our defence, which was the best part of our team already based on how we stayed up, the main issues like in midfield and upfront, no point denying that,

ALL of the players linked with us/signed, are internationals. 3 play for better nations than England. Coates plays, fairly regular for Uruguay who, beat us in Brazil, Lombaerts is a regular for Belgium, who'd easily tear England apart, and Lens plays regular for Holland, who again, would beat England.

Matthews is a Welsh international, do believe he's their first choice RB. While it's only Wales, they are currently top of their Euro 2016 group ahead of Belgium.

Need to keep hold.

I think we are massively short, thats where our opinons differ

I think Cattermole and Larsson are canny, Gomez and Birductt are average, Gomez is ok as a squad player

And I don't rate Rodwell

I really think we need 2 quality additions there

and we absolutely need another winger with Lens as we are playing 433

and 100% need a new striker.

Lot of work to do like.

Exactly. People are forgetting we still had the likes of Ba (Gone) Mavrias Roberge out on loan. They obviously have no future here. Bridcutt and Buckley aren;t good enough and when you throw in the likes of Alvarez who will be off and Mannone Giaccherini and Fletcher who probably need a move- we start to get quite a lot of cash free.

Should be takers for most of them.....I hope.
