I remember watching him when we played man city at home back in December and thought he was very poor and couldn't see why he was at Liverpool never mind on loan to us, but having watched him at last week and at home today, I am maybe thinking he has potential given the right type of player to coach him along (the likes of O'shea and Brown) does he have a future here though, maybe only as back up IMO.

He was excellent today and he's played ok the last 2 or 3 games.
His problem is he's pitifully slow and in a chase he invariably comes off 2nd best!

This pace thing is getting on my tits I couldn't think of one premier league centre half who would beat vardy in a race

Cos they are facing the play. A bloke knocks it past you then you have to turn and get up to speed...the forward will always have the advantage..for a few yards. Even Toddo took a few strides to catch up..and that lad was fast

Des Walker was quick.

Do we sign him?

He stepped up against the mags at the last minute, and he's played really well in our (hopefully) survival push.

I'd say he's a good natural defender but his lack of pace and inability to pass cause him far too many problems. With the right coaching he could be a good premier league defender. Worth 2 million? I'd say so.

Definitely worth it if we can sign him for that cheap.

He's judged harshly because he hasn't had a long run in the side. Been easily better than Vergini for the most part.

His first game was City at home, I think. And he got ripped apart by Aguero, everyone gets ripped apart by Aguero. He was very good today. Just sign him like, not many other options. Fuck it.

We need three centre backs anyway. I think he's worth it like. Out of all the games he's played in, which can't be that many, I can think of several clean sheets he's been involved in.

Yeah. Only worry I have is whether he'd want to join. He's here because of Poyet so will he want to join now that he's gone? Or will he fancy his chances of breaking into the Liverpool team? Not sure he'll have enjoyed his time here much. Seems a quite down to earth lad, would be happy to see him sign.

I don't have that worry at all. He'd jump at the chance at a club like ours. He's absolutely no chance at liverpool.

We aren't exactly spoilt for choice at centre-back. I'd take someone of his level as backup considering our only permanent CB is JOS at the moment. I know Vergini is permanent too for all intents and purposes, but we still technically only have 1, and he's hella old.

Vergini - O'Shea - Coates - Van Dijk

may be the best we can hope for come autumn

coates is our most important defender and our best centre half he was outstanding yesterday and also kept lukaka very quiet .wouldnt cost a fortune young and will get better.poyet wanted his centre halfs to be creative lol .centre backs are there to block head balls away tackle he is doing well now poyet has gone sign him
