He's class. Can't kick a ball properly but he's class.

Is his distribution is shit the emperor's new clothes? His kicking hasn't cost us a goal this season unlike Manone down Soton.

Maybe he doesn't find his man every time but he's not slicing the ball off the pitch on a regular basis.

IMO he's certainly on a par with any keeper I've seen in my 35 years of live support.

He's a very good goalie but distribution erratic. Love his reaction when we win (the odd game), especially against the Soccer Barcodes.

Been to every single one mate - we have averaged 45k but have a problem with maybe 2k of season tickets holders on average not turning up for each game. Our season tickets are cheap - some as low as £300 and a lot of people buy them and maybe go to ten to fifteen games a season. Looks bad on tv but in truth people outside are paying touts for a ticket as the game is officially sold out. Sunderland fans know that we have good support just as you do. Next season we will average 54k.

Back to the topic I always rated him and he had a great attitude. Always liked Sunderland since the huge following on the kippax when you had the goaly with the bow legs and we sent you down- what was he called?
I was at that game mate. A young 11 year old lad, in that corner along the side. Unreal following we had that day. Bit of an eye opener for a young lad, watching me dad pay some yung'n to "look after our car", in where I now know was moss side.

Pantillimon has surprised us all mate. Wasn't expecting much, but he is a very competent keeper and being so big, has a natural presence about him. His kicking isn't great, but he makes up for that with other things. Turned out to be a very good signing for us and seems to live it up here and bit of a fans favourite. Rodwell on the other hand.......

Every fan I've ever spoken to of any club always slates their keeper's distribution. Realistically I think it has more to do with the style of the team, if you're Swansea for example there's always going to be defenders dropping back.

This has him 13th of keepers with more than 20 games played. Better than most for throw outs, poor with 'other' which I assume relates to having the ball played back in-play. Pretty average really, I think instead of just accepting that he's good and maybe not world class, people feel the need to identify specific weaknesses which aren't necessarily worse than average.

Great to see you win last week and looks like Hull will go!! Would just like to know how big Pants has done in net this season? He was good for us and seemed a great lad. Didn't think he would get in the first team ahead of Mannone.

Hope you get 2 more wins and maybe even the Mags might get sucked into it.
Your not Mark from Woodford???

Hes a very good keeper, so confident with him on crosses, Been a class signing. Celebrates like hes won the world cup when he makes good saves which is also class.

Well quite a number of goals keepers have no chance at all, some shots are straight at them.
If a keeper has 2 shots at him in a game saves one and has no chance with the other it's a meaningless stat if it's compared to another keeper who may have two shots that are bread and butter.

Pants may get more shots at him in games to save compared to De Gea but it does not say how difficult those shots are to keep out, therefore a stupid stat in my opinion.

I'm in no way saying Pants is not a decent keeper, he gives me no reason to suggest otherwise.
I like him, just we get bombarded with statistics that are literally meaningless drivel.

Aye fair enough mate. Nice to discuss stuff sensibly on here for once! Personally I find statistics are useful to back up what you see with your own eyes cause judgement is more useful than numbers.

Stats are worthless for keepers. Massively dependent on defenders in front. The better team will get more clean sheets in general.

A team at the bottom who sit deep will have higher saves to shots ratio. It's worthless imo
