Theres nothing wrong with rating the fella he may well turn out to become a good player. My issue is more with those that think NUFC are doing 'cracking business' when after a disastrous end to the season on top of losing Cabaye and Remy they also lose Debuchy. They are undoubtedly losing players that are very good and replacing them with players that may or may not be.

Fair points.

Agree with this post. They are replacing their stand-out, best players by a country mile and we have to replace the likes of Colback and Bardsley.

I would be very, very surprised if the two 'big' signings come anywhere near Cabaye and Remy's contributions.

Signing a dutch fullback anarl.... they will be decent on paper next season.

Huge sigh!

They are already in a starting position of statistically the worst side in the premiership in 2014. They are replacing there absolute stand out top players of Cabaye, Remy and Debuchy with players that are unproven in this league.

I said on paper and I totally agree with you.

They're making the effort though, hope we make as much effort in the next few weeks.

Also, the 'unproven in this league' crack, only ever applies to the Pl for some reason. Don't hear it in Spain or Germany, they just sign good players. And surprise surprise, a lot of the time it works.

I don't think anyone would seriously doubt that Remy, Cabaye and Debuchy are good players. I don't think anyone would seriously doubt that swapping those 3 for Cabella and De Jong will improve a team that is already statistically the worst in the premiership in 2014. Of course they are trying NUFC's team last year minus those 3 players would finish bottom of the league by a distance as they were showing without 2 of them at the end of last season.

Our situation is different - We do need to push the boat out in the coming weeks but we don't have to replace that sort of quality just to stand still.

It's a hell of a step up from playing in a dogshit league to a big league as many of the mags French players have found out only time will tell if he's this wonder player some think he is .... Still mind boggling why such a highly rated player who'll have been known all over Europe has ended up at the lopsided shit tip

Tea splurted all over keyboard.

Their form in 2014 was minus cabaye though. So technically they only need to replace the other 2 using that logic. Remy also missed a fair chunk of the latter part.

They would have been in serious trouble without these signings. But they've made them. I expect they'll finish between 8th-12th personally.

I'd say the majority on here aren't very complimentary towards Debuchy tbf.

Wow just simply wow Ginola and Robert Newcastle greats

Remy Cabella wants to follow in the footsteps of Newcastle United greats Laurent Robert and David Ginola.

arrived on Tyneside last night and is eager to make his name with the Toon Army.

The ex-Montpellier man said: “I remember David Ginola and Laurent Robert. I’m looking forward to making my name & becoming one of those greats.”

Never seen either of them play. Wasn't that impressed by Dutch full back though - back up to Dirk Kuyt.
Mags will do ok - somewhere in mid-table. Their defence is average and midfield is functional rather than creative.
Reality is that we both have no hope of European position unless other teams have alarming drop in form.
More concerned about our lack of numbers and quality at moment, tbh.

can we not just have a mag sub forum so all the closet mags can go in their and discuss them with their mag chums

people say sunderland fans are not obsessed...but its sunderland fans starting all these threads

Both obsessed with each other to be fair! Its just a pity some fans concentrate on it more than the actual football. Most hate the mags more than they love Sunderland, its a shame!
