The plane fly past is back on...

Hell of a lot more than that to be fair mate.

As I say, I tried to start a thread so that any potential donations wouldn't be de-railed, but it never really happened. Though I'm really not sure the debate will affect that much; people will either donate or they won't.

To be fair people keep saying this but so far I have seen no evidence to support it, the opposite in fact.

There is you and a handful of people on this thread against it, nobodies getting wound up but it's totally killed the fund raising efforts and I wanted to raise as much for charity as we did for the plane to offset my karma ;)
More than a handful, mentioned it to a mate who's one of the most anti mag people I know and thought he would be well up for it, his response was "sounds like a cringeworthy stunt they'd play so I'm not going to support it"

It's not my decision to make but if you setup a fund and it raises more money from people not wanting the plane idea to go ahead I would be up for calling the whole thing off and giving the lot to charity.

It would be difficult for anyone to make that call though because people have already donated for a reason and that was for the plane.

Googlefight it is, I agree. Fairest way:

I think it will be a tight one myself.

 You can't be reading the thread then. There's loads against it. On top of that, the only poll we have has 150 votes and around 90 are against it (but you'll no doubt pass this off as irrelevant).

It's not even deniable.

Sure he would if it's a worthy cause
Well sort it then , your chance to back the strength of your convictions

Money talks bullshit walks , anyone can have a passing opinion .

If somebody more positive about the whole plan had "mentioned" it, is there a chance his response may have been different? Sometimes it's the way you tell them.

Yeah really, my exact words "have you donated to this plane over St James thing?" Completely neutral question!

I specifically asked him that way as I was convinced it would be something he would usually be all over, goes to show even the ones that love nothing more than to wind them lot up think it's a gash idea but keep telling yourselves it's git class and that lol

Amazing. Shame it's not really relevant to the discussion.

Gerrin ;)
It is though and you know it is . Your just keeping your sideline sniping going with free shots , come up with a grand ( or more if people continue to back the plane with cash ) and you get your way . Democracy .

What?! I paid my money man! you can't go doing this just because you think it's 'a bit cringey'. I'll happily pay whatever you want to charity, but you can't just de-rail something a hundred or so people have paid for. That's totally unfair. Whether you think the plane is the right thing to do or not, surely you must see how unfair that is?

You don't really think only a handful of people are against it and you know it.

Not as unfair as doing something of this nature which reflects on all Sunderland fans when the overwhelming majority are against it.
