Defoe

Very decent player but never understood why he swapped Spurs for Portsmouth or why go to the MLS and Toronto. I'm pretty sure that he could have gone to stronger clubs on both occasions. Perhaps he's driven by money.
He might do wel for you, if he stays clear of injury as some radio pundit did say he had a history for getting crocked.

Absolutely no pressure on him. His prededessor turned out to be complete donkey so even a couple of goals will be seen as a massive improvement.
Portsmouth - money, playing time and Rednapp.
Toronto FC - money, adventure and being sold the chance to win a championship.
Simple......

that a toon supporter would make snide inferences about the motives of a player is laughable.
they still hanker after the hall/shepherd model of football club ownership. spend money you don't have, on players who cost too much and couldn't give a toss.
now they don't pay the big wages the players can't wait to leave.

You'd think so, I'm not sure Poyet would switch to a straight 4-4-2 though. Maybe 4-3-1-2, Wickham/Fletcher up front with Defoe and Giaccherini/Johnson/Alvarez behind?

IMO he's got to change the formation at home certainly. Would be very surprised if he went with 2 upfront though (I think he should).

I just don't see him leaving the deep midfield role out, however it'll have to change further forward to

Potentially could go with:

Pantillamon

Jones O'Shea Brown PVA

Catts

Johnson Larsson Giacc

Alvarez

Defoe

If we went 2 up front he'd have to play a much narrower midfield as he's just not going to go a traditional 442.

Pantillamon

Jones O'Shea Brown PVA

Catts

Rodwell Johnson

Alvarez

Defoe Wickham

The benefit of doing either of those is we can deploy Alvarez or Giacc in that central role that will bring the best out of them.

He'll probably just play Defoe as the lone striker though.

What Fletcher shite? That he enjoys a drink? I don't think he's waking up and getting stuck into Buckfast for breakfast like, but there's no denying he likes a drink. He was pictured drinking vodka straight from the bottle after beating the mags last season. I'd rather have players who have decided they are going to give themselves the best possible chance of being in the best physical condition that they can be, and being teetotal certainly helps with that one.
No he wasn't

Does anyone really give a fook how we play as long as we have Defoe banging them in every week?

.

Killjoy.

It makes people lifes man posting on here, ringing radio stations, pretending to be the next fergie, suggesting a christmas tree formation.

One of the dullest fecking subjects imo, a sky thing? Definately cant remember roker days and lads in the clipper dabating the days preferred setup.

??

You lot tried to sign him before he went to the MLS didn't you?

Stepped aside.

Sour grapes.

Champagne not cava.

He's going to tear you rabble apart in the next derby.

5 in a row fingers crossed.;)
I admire your optimism.

I think I must have supported Sunderland too long as I expect him to come on tomorrow at about 70 minutes. After five minutes he will pull up with a ruptured Achilles and that will be him out for the season.

Is 12 the cut off point for playing tomorrow?

Jozy will have passed his medical last night, I'd expect an announcement about 3-5pm with Toronto announcing Jozy.

Announcement isn't the same as registering him, sure all the paper work will be sorted in time.
